The way it really went down

If this is true, and there is no reason not to believe Billy going by past actions, then Dippy is a POS. If you don't have the money to play then don't play. It doesn't matter if you are playing for 50K or $50.

I love how Dippy has been high rolling everyone and then goes busto. I made a post about respecting Dippy and his gamble when everyone was saying he was laying down to Shane, etc....before he proceeded to make several pros in Vegas very fat. Now I have lost that respect. I'm not a fan of Scott Frost but I gotta call a spade a spade. Dippy is in the wrong here. Suck it up, go borrow some cheese from Erik Lindgren or one of the other few poker players that don't stay bust, and pay your debts.

Your son, the Lab. needed to chase some Ducks from San Hosa!!!! can you speeeal 2???? You can help Billy write!!!!!

My lab is like Uncle Joe moving kind of slow at the Junction!

Pool is so funny sometimes. Reading this forum the past few weeks, it is AMAZING how the tides can change at the drop of a hat. It's a fickle crowd, I tell you. :outtahere:

I can spell great, but I have come to realize that writing isn't as easy as some might think. I am a perfectionist and will edit and edit, over and over again, until it's just right. I've got too much on my platter to write about pool now, but maybe someday. :)

I think that Billy's memoirs would be a great read, if he's willing to share 'em. :grin-square:

wow

i just got a call and from what i hear things got ugly in vegas tonight! dont have all the details but it doesnt sound good!

I'm glad that Mr. Incardona decided to weigh in on this and give his side of the story, as he was such an intergral part of this fiasco. I hope the Viffer realizes the standing that Mr. Incardona holds in the pool and billiards community, and gambling community, not just here in the US, but around the world to some degree. I'm sure that should this issue not be resolved in a manner agreeable to all parties, Dippy Dave will see reflections of this in the poker community as well, not just the pool and billiards crowd.

From all accounts given, Dippy Dave was up front, showed integrity, and a good competitive spirit up until this last set was played. I hope that the decisions since are just the result of a little bit of pride and stubborness getting in the way. The action he generates is exciting for both the pool and gambling communities. I hope that this is only a speed bump and is resolved shortly.

100 cops came into the pool room while RW and DD were engaged in action. DD was confronted by some goon trying to help SF while he and RW were playing their challenge match.

RW was one set stuck at the time when the cops came, playing DD. So the two of the moved on over to the another pool room to continue their challenge match.

The post was being held for safekeeping by one of DD's friends.

Well, guess what? That guy flew the coop during all the hoopla with the heat. Hopefully, he'll return with the post.

Poor RW. :o

Nathan, trust me Dippy didn't pay the money. I was with Scott when we confronted Dippy about the 50k that was owed, Dippy told me that he paid Scott with Scott sitting next to me. I then put Dippy on the spot and asked him where and what time he paid Scott, he answered "at the Aria Casino" I then asked him what time was it when he paid Scott, he looked at his cell phone and said it was between 3:00 and 3:30. WRONG ANSWER. I was with Scott during that time. Any more questions?

Billy, I'd never doubt you for a second. I'm merely trying to get a few details for all these people who are in such a hurry to make uninformed judgments. :p

The cops were called because of the goon, or for other reasons?

The cops were called because of the goon? Please be more specific. :p

I didn't see the goon, of course, but he was described as being 6'8", about 350 pounds, and all muscle with "arms about as big as your head."

The goon approached DD and engaged in a colloquy. It may have elevated, at which time the pool room deemed the volume level was not suitable for a pool room environment. :)

Update

Everything got smoothed out. The heat left. SF and the goon left. RW and DD broke even. :grin-square:

Will everybody live happily ever after? Hopefully, everyone will let bygones by bygones when everything is squared away. :)

It would have to be pretty loud for them to do that. I wonder if it was Shaq, I know Scott has been hanging with him lately in LV. :)

I heard the goon was Samoan. That's all I know. He was described to me as a "scary-looking dude."

I heard from a source that Dippy got roughed up, not sure if it is true or not.

I hope he didn't get hurt. I don't like violence. :(

I did hear he got grabbed by the throat, though. I hope he's okay. :canoodle:

LOL.
So glad i don't play pool anymore.
Saves me the trouble of dealing with all the garbage.

If someone showed up to rough me up, i would stalk them and they would end up dying some mysterious death.

And then on the flip side, if someone stiffed me to the tune of 50k, they would end up dying of mysterious circumstances as well.

Badmiton anyone?

I don't know which end is up nor do I have a dog in the fight, but after reading all the threads on the matter...it sounds like things went downhill after the call that dippy thought was a bad hit. I'm guessing in his heart he thought it was bad (regardless if it was good).

I believe Lenny and Billy's stories - they're both super reputable.

However, the entire world is trying to match-up with this guy and bust his ass. For the most part, they have been - -- I don't think Dippy's posted a winner out of the last $250k in losses. It sounds to me everyone has made about a few years-worth of salaries from Dippy.

I'm not defending Dippy, I'm just saying the smart move is to sit down and be civil. The bottom line is everyone is beating him in games where he's definitely not the favorite for a TON of cash. If I beat someone out of $150k and there was controversy on the last $50k, I might think about making a deal / buyout on the last 50 or re-playing the set completely from scratch. I mean, you're up ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS and have the cash on-hand.

Scott/Billy should just GIVE $4k to Lenny to make him feel better and keep their gracious client Dippy from public embarrassment so that maybe he'll wanna play again so they can keep winning big money.

I dunno. I might be totally on the wrong but if I won $100k from someone, they'd get a lot of free passes on bullshit.

That does sound like an ideal way to approach this matter, but there's other issues at hand that need a remedy. :)

I do agree with you, though, that DD has provided the pool world the best action they've seen in decades, maybe even since the Detroit era. For that, he'll go down in pool history as a legendary action player.

Celebrities, though, also have to adhere to the rules, as should all parties in any competition.

Samoan's

I heard the goon was Samoan. That's all I know. He was described to me as a "scary-looking dude."

Not saying this is true about all Samoans but they don't come any bigger uglier or rougher than a big ugly Samoan! When I was in Hawaii for a few weeks I saw a lot of Samoan women I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley, much less the men. Time for Dippy Dave to get right or get a bodyguard packing heat.

Bringing a goon into a public place to play games is a very bush move, especially in Vegas if you aren't "in". Scott surely knows better. Scott being upset enough to do it convinces me that he definitely thinks he got the gooey end of the stick.

It does sound like Scott, Billy, all the pool players involved made a nice little haul before the well went dry. Seems like it might be time to back off a little bit and give Viffer time to get his ducks in a row. How many times have we laughed about pool players that played the last set on air? Like Keith, I never got too upset if I was air barreled on the last bet if the earlier bets were paid. I do have to admit that people were damned unlikely to get a walking stick if they stiffed me for the last bet but even that happened sometimes if they were a good guy to play with.

Most poker players have money in a handful of boxes I believe. I think I'd give Viffer a few weeks or months. There is always enough time to do something stupid later. Moves like hiring a goon can wind up with somebody dead even if it is unintentional. That means a long time inside or even a needle when you hire someone. Premeditation and all of that. An old racing buddy is doing life on Angola Farm over $10,000. Makes me think before doing anything too stupid. I still have a few times but I did whatever with my eyes open. Sounds like Scott is ahead 30-40K and is taking a lot of risk for another 20K that he won in a few hours. I wouldn't want to do time or PO some of the folks in Vegas over an air barrel that may be taken care of soon anyway.

Hu (I see Spidey posted much the same while I was typing slow this morning!)
