Merry Widow done my way

Here's what I always considered a classic "merry widow", meaning nothing on top but something on bottom. I kept it as close to traditional as I could, but added some of my own personality. The buyer was easy to work with & let me keep it within the bounderies of a Sugartree but still edging out onto the traditional route that he wanted in design.

Not the first steel joint, but certainly one of very few. And no, it wasn't inspired by Dennis. In fact, Dennis & I were contracted to build our own version of this cue by the same buyer, at the same time. Although this design is not my cup of tea, I do enjoy working outside of my box every once in a while. It was a fun cue.

I like it. Intersting the fact of how you used the wood in the but and in the colar of the cue.
Very cool stuff.

next time use a decent piece of BEM,:wink::wink::)

LOL yeah I was just trying to weed out the junk wood with this one. Actually that's not entirely untrue. I had this forearm since I first started building cues, but never had a butt sleeve to match. When the guy contacted me about this design, I knew I had the perfect piece for the job.

Wow

What a piece of birdseye...kindof like quilted Birdseye. There is something going on in every inch of it.

Simple perfection. How does the steel joint effect the "hit"?

I need me one of those, love the whole design and I'm not into wraps and ss joints all that much. These type of cues, with the sick forearms, make me want one pretty badly. Ring work is quite nicely done as well.

ERIC,
I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE SUGAR....... EVERTYTHING ABOUT THIS CUE, IS JUST RIGHT. I HAD A VERY SIMILAR SEARING, AND ALWAYS LOVED THE LOOKS OF IT. YOUR RINGS, ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THE ONES I HAD ON THE S, AND I THINK THEY ARE A PERFECT ACCENT TO A CUE LIKE THIS. NOT TOO OVERSTATED, AND NOT TOO PLAIN.

I wish you would build me a cue "outside of my box".
Very nice.

Real nice widow cue with a super forearm piece. This style is a bit of a departure for you, Eric, but you executed it very well.
Congrats to the owner!

Thanks guys. The wrap was originally white with green spec, old school. But it didn't look right, IMO, and I changed it to the white with double black. It was a fun cue. I appreciate the traditional styles, especially when I can add a twist.
