U hype up a car, now does that mean the original car sucked? Better to start with a good base wouldnt u agree? I would like to see meucci sales numbers compared to other manufactures and see where they stand. Production cue/custom cue are two different categories. I dont see anyone cutting up ur cues, u are a cue maker? How do your cues stand up against other top custom cue makers? Is it really a good thing to cut up your competition? I feel kinda insulted by you cutting up meucci, since I have one and really like it! Ur going in the wrong direction, focus on your cues and things might go from great to excellent, just my opinion. Now do u guys really think it was cuetec that ruined earls game too? LOL

IMHO, this is a way to re-instill trust in the Meucci name by equating the original quality with today's product. Although, they are not manufactured in the same way. Meucci's are like Earl. You love'em or hate'em. But, you can't ignore them. Everyone has owned one. I bet 80% of people have played with a Meucci at one time or another. I had a "Castle Walls" version in college that I would've told you walked on water. Now, I play with an Omen. Different times, different reasons, different choices. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
 
I would like to see meucci sales numbers compared to other manufactures and see where they stand.
They declared bankruptcy twice.

Rempe was paid, I don't know about Joyner. Rempe has retired, so I hear.

Reason for bankruptcies? Does not always mean it was from bad sales.

Could be a lot of different reasons joey, cue sales is where I would start, maybe someone has some expensive hobbies, etc.

As far as I know, when Predator came around, then Lucasi, Meucci's sales plummeted. They laid-off a ton of employees in the original factory, then moved. Quality went down and so did sales.
At one time, these pros were playing with Meuccis, Efren, Rempe, Lori Jon, Varner, Hall, Davenport, Howard, Pierce, Wetch, Ellin and Kennedy. I saw them tape a commercial at the Riviera.

Personally, I think it was when Bob's sons-in-law got to pretty much run the business and Bob just kinda stood back. It was during this period {and I can't remember the dates} that inlays started coming through the finish and ferrules started cracking/breaking right and left. Both happened to me, as I've had Meuccis at different times in my career. None compared to the first one I had in the mid or late '70s. I had a plain jane that got three quarter inch cracks in the ferrule in the space of a month. I never broke with it. Room owner sent it back and it was fixed for free, but I've heard all kinds of horror stories.
Sammy Jones showed me a few of, I think, what were called Midici?? Supposed to be a new line, but they ain't for me.

They had a second line, I forgot what name ( Millenium? ) . Efren's break cue was that brand. Efren used a Meucci in the Color Of Money match in Hong Kong against Earl. Also in his loss to Rodney Morris at the US Open final.

Jimmy Wetch for example played with a Schon. Then Meucci signed him but I dunno if he got paid. The next year he was playing with a Sigel.

Louie "St. Louis Louie" Roberts was sponcered by Meucci back in the 1970's. I forget how much he was paid by them, however, for many years all Louie used was a Meucci cue, and he kicked butt with one!!!;)

Joey, I knew Louie from 1974 until I joined the US. Army and left St. Louis in 1979. After that I never saw Louie again, and actually it was a couple years after his un-timely death that I was even aware he had died.

Meucci's first catalog came out in 1975, so I would suspect that the Meucci cues Louie used were made while Bob was running operations at the factory. But, I am uncertain if he built Louies cues for him, all I do remember is that when they came out with new models Louie always got a new cue from Meucci. I had a signed one years ago, I got from Louie, I wish I still had the cue.

somewhere around the mid 70's Meucci was still in the old gas station in Memphis, TN. there was no 'factory' at that time. in the first bankruptcy, he lost the rights to use 'Meucci Originals' on the cues.

maybe by adding '50' on the name of the new originals, he may be barely skirting around the law or maybe the current owner of the 'originals' logo has given up/sold the rights to that logo.

inquiring minds would like to know.

:) Well sorry about my rant earlier..I do not mean to take away your love and passion for your cue..You are happy with it and that is the main thing...I was thinking about the many cues Meucci made after going overseas that were plain junk..I say junk because ALOT of people were getting cues poorly made..Check out the link in post #16 of this thread..Years ago this poor service from the Meucci factory started and is still going strong as evidenced by the link in post #16.....I have ZERO tolerance for business's when they CONTINUE to do the same bad business practices over and over and over again..Meucci has a great marketing ploy to sell their cues..They cater especially to the starter in pool ..I just hate seeing people get ripped off....Again i appologize to you as you took it somewhat tongue and cheek personal.....It is obvious that not every cue that Meucci makes is poor..There are many Meucci cue lovers out there and again i will say if YOU are happy that is the main thing.......No i am not going to play you as i do not want to loose any of my hard earned money:D ........Now go practice pool so you can beat someone else out of their paycheck.:) Have a good one..:)
 
A lot of the older guys around here who use Meucci have a 314 shaft on them.
I didn't get up to the Expo this year or last :( , but in 06 their booth (Meucci) was half "factory seconds" with blurred and smudged graphics and other defects. Aside from having flaws, each one had "Fact Sec" stamped into the forearm. They were selling them for about 50% off list price.

I work in an industry that does trade shows, and we'd never put crap like that on the show floor. You are supposed to put out the best you have, after all you are standing behind (literally) your product. I was embarrassed for the guy who had to try to sell this junk. Even if you found a good one with just a minor flaw (Meucci lettering smudged) you still have to go around with FACT SEC on the forearm.

I would never purchase a new Meucci just because of quality concerns, even if they are great playing cues, and I have never owned one, so I don't know that they aren't.
