Congrats and what a year, look forward to seeing him play at the Mosconi Cup, this is probably the best year he has ever had in his career, must be sweet.

To my knowledge it is the best year ANYONE has ever had when you look at it from an international point of view.

Off the top of my head:

Japan Open

Galveston 10 Ball

US Open 9 Ball (back to back)

Mezz Classic 10 Ball

Challenge of Champions

World 10 Ball

and in a few weeks a shot at the Mosconi Cup.

We have seen the confirmation of a new legend in the game IMO. Congrats to Mika on an amazing run. He is great Champion and a great guy in general. I look forward to seeing his legend grow even more.

Yeah, I agree. Off the top of my head... nobody had a year like this EVER. Prob the best year ever for a player.

And the Qatar Open....

Congratulations Mika!!!!!!!

Thats great!!!! He lives in America these days so a American won, He didnt represent himself with an American flag or technically play for America. But he lives in NYC and loves it here-he has told me so. So kinda chalk up a victory for the Americans and Finland. Hows that???

I'm so happy for him, he has had monster year over $200K in winnings(i'm pretty sure), thats a big year-perhaps a recod year not counting the IPT years.

Thats 3 years in a row a European won this event, Peach, Appleton, Mika right? Or was Peach in a different tournment?? Thats pretty strong the Euro's are taking over.

I'm only jokeing when I say this, but I hope Mika dogs it at the M-Cup:eek::eek::eek: In all seriousness I just want to see our team play great and watch great pool.

CONGRATS Mika! Mika has an excellent record in pool tournaments held in the Philippines: 4-0 in finals.

Lee Van is a good player but still has to learn a few lessons in sportsmanship and decision making. After Mika sank the winning 10ball and went up to Lee to offer his hand, Lee continued to turn his back until Mika had to tap him on the shoulder. Again, after the awarding of the silver and gold medals, Mika extended his hand to Lee who was standing beside him, but Lee just ignored him by texting on his cellphone. That was not classy at all, Lee Van.

In the finals, Lee gave Mika ball in hand at least 4 times IRRC. In at least 3 of those times, Lee opted to go offensive instead of defensive (safety) or attempted ideal position with a kick shot where the risk of missing was very high rather than just hit the ball with no ideal position but no ball in hand for Mika. You don't give ball in hand to your opponent and expect not to pay for it.

On the international level this might have been anyones biggest year, Terry Ardeno could do his home work, or Jay helfert to verify if it is the biggest year for any single player. Seigal, Buddy, Nick had some big years too, but I dont think they were international events. There wernt as many international events I dont think. Infact there were relativly few Europeans back then on the scene. Ralf in the earily 90's comes to mind.

Its a great victory for Mika and pehaaps the best international year for any player ever!!!! can you imagine that?

Here is the billing for a poster for TAR 33:

JA-Player of the decade in the 90's
------------Vs.----------------
Mika-Beats the whole world 2009

Sounds like a TAR match to me:eek: Actually I dont believe they will play, each other I'm just having fun chatting right now. I'd like to see Shane play Mika a long race. That would be interesting.

hope your good JCIN!!!!! and thanks again for everything

over and out,

Mika is an also ran that just gets all the rolls. His luck can't last forever.

;)

Congrats to Mika. This year has been mind boggling. It would make a great DVD or TV special if someone pulled together video and edited and narrated, etc with a nice sampling of key shots with interviews, of all his victories for the year.

Mika is definitely the #1 in the world right now and his confidence is overwhelming. I would almost dare to say that his accomplishments should give him the player of the decade title. Go go Mika!

Mika is looking unstoppable right now. Even if he loses a match, he comes back to win from the loss side.

I hate to say it, but I am not liking how the Mosconi Cup is looking for the American Team right now. :frown: Mika has had a spectacular year, and Ralf wasn't a slouch either. Either way it goes, the talent assembled for that cup is looking to showcase some of the best pool that has ever been recorded.

Varner did pretty damn good in 89 and Efren had some great years with IPT earnings being counted, but other than that this is easily the best year anyone has had in a while.

Didn't he almost win the 14.1 event this year also?

Phenomenal level of play to maintain from event to event, travelling around the world,etc...

pinoy killer

. . . off the top of my head Mika beat 3 monster Filipino players, Manalo, Lining, & Corteza all on their turff in front of their fans.

that's tough, tough, tough!!!!

the best player of the tournament won and he deserves it.

Elbow droppers

The accolades are well deserved for Mika. He's earned every one of them.

The post about his luck not lasting forever made me chuckle. He's lucky all right, just like someone else who claims he just got lucky.

I guess Mika's success will be ushering in a new wave of elbow droppers.
