Absolutely correct
Mika V De Luna Controversy....

What do you guys think this does for the game? Help or hurt it. Everyone is talking about it, so the pool fans are at least paying attention. Other major sports the players get in arguments with the refs and other players all the time.
I personally don’t find it a big deal. It’s just a heat of the moment thing.
I do dislike called shot pool in general. A little bit of luck is good for viewership, imo. It does away with the ambiguity/nittyness of calling obvious shots. Also riding the cheese was a fun thing to do at times as both a player and spectator.
Speaking of Mika, do you guys remember in about 2015 he and Efren had an exhibition match right before the US open? Efren sh!t in the 9 on a kick, and stood by the side pocket it was tracking towards and motioned it in. All the fans loved it, he was smiling ear to ear. Call shot takes away all that randomness that gets remembered years later.

So either he didn't hear him call it or he was sharking Mika.

I believe it was the first game where De Luna miscued and stood at his chair looking at his tip. He was directly in Mika's line-of-sight so Mika rightfully asked him to sit down which he did. Other than that I didn't see any sharking. In fact, later in the match around 5,5 De Luna played a great safety which Mika tapped the table to acknowledge ... so the match was not a downright brawl afterall
I guess DeLuna has a sharking reputation so people are clamoring at that rather than dealing with the specifics to this match.
Agreed. The only reason I watch either one of them is I want to see them lose... Mika more so.
I saw a match where you had to call the 9 ball pocket and Efren forgot to call the pocket and lost that game. In another game of the same match he was going to pocket another 9 without calling the pocket and the crowd yelled out to remind him. Of course, Efren was grateful and was smiling ear to ear. To win the match Efren pointed to the pocket and called it about 4 times and the crowd went wild with laughter. Sure some here saw that match on YouTube.
I've had zero respect for Mika since he threw Corey's chalk under the table then pretended not to know where it was lolol.
He has other antics, but really demonstrates the maturity of a 9 year old on more than one occasion.
Mika keeps his own chalk with him when he plays. During one of his racks he has to move Corey's chalk out of the way a few shots in a row. Finally he picks it up and moves around a bit before tossing it under the table. (right at 30min in the video). Then Corey comes to the table and Mika pretentds to help him find it. All in all, pretty hilarious.
All of that, when all you had to say was 'no' the first time. Thanks for your opinion this time, though.

The ref called foul.
De Luna was going to shoot and Mika barked at him.
The ref told them to sit as he was going to check the replay. I didn't know replay option was in effect. Had the match been not on streaming, Mika would have had no option to ask for the replay.
Lol you can hear Mika getting out of control when its tied double hill and Corey soft breaks.
"Nice break."
"That's how I lost the US Open". (referring to when Corey gave Mika a goose egg soft breaking in the finals)
"It's a disgrace man."
Mika kept carrying on after the set and Corey responds "I think you won a World Championship doing that"
both are trudging along in the tournament.. let us hope for a rematch
I hear ya. I was in an arrangement with Pat Flemming to buy 1 DVD per month and I would get it for $9.95.
I told Pat if I didn't make a choice any month, he could just send me one where Mika loses. HaHaHa.

Because of how the players reacted, in particular Mika, I think this is a bad look for pool. I like to see good sportmanship from the players, similar to Yapp vs Van Boening that time when the ref didn't hear Shane call his extension.
i doubt it, was PPV. gorst won by like 40 racks in a race to 100
I don’t think a foul was called, but it’s hard to hear what the ref said. If anything he would have said something like “you didn’t call the 9.”
