*****Mike Cochran 6 Point For Sale*****

Personally it makes no difference to me . I would agree it would have been better to post a seperate thread discussing this cues value. In some ways I miss the days of old AZ when guys like Jimbo were around and an honest opinion was given no matter what.

Nick is always chiming in on every Scruggs or Cochran thread how the seller is asking too little and it's worth double that etc. Could this be because he has a lot of them (according to him) which I don't doubt. A huge sale on this cue could easily affect the value of his cues by 30 to 50 percent. We are talking about thousands and thousands of dollars. He has an interest in seeing this cue sell for a big number.

I know he has done many nice things for Mikes wife which should be commended but the is an upside in this for him too.

I have no idea and really since I can't see in Nick's head I wouldn't want to speculate as to his motivations. I find it interesting that when people guess as to another''s thoughts (of which I'm sure you'd admit the possibilities are endless) people always assume they are negative. Clearly the guesses people choose to make say much more about the person doing the guessing than they do about the person being guessed about.

I'm not saying that you are free to express your opinion. I'm saying (sorry if its wasn't clear) that we have an agreement here at AZ not to post negative opinions about pricing in a persons for sale threads. Seems like a good policy to me. If you have some feelings to express about what is happening with MC's cues after his death why not to it in a more appropriate spot? Think the poster is asking too much for his cue, shoot him a PM or offer or just move on to a cue that you feel is more fairly priced.

Thanks again

Kevin

And Please Note

For the record I didn't intend to "bash" anyone. I suppose that my thinking out loud was construed as negative.

My initial thought was that the gentleman just threw 13k out being sarcastic.

I certainly didn't intend to get involved in any silly bullshit. We all have frequented this board for a long time, I enjoy the offerings and occasionally even buy gear. I would never attempt to hurt a potential sale in any way that was not my intent.

Have a great day and I do honestly wish you the best of luck with your sale.

last time

Look last time for my 2 cents

I dont care if he listed a viking for 100,000.00, im not bashing i hope it sells but its just weird to me

But its how you sell on here is the thing!!!!

Dont post offers......not too bad but everyone here likes to have a price!!I learned that..Even if he wanted 13k he should have listed 13 k obo and went from there. He knows what he wants for it

then when inq were done by several here it was 7500 or anything a tad over 7500......????well ok

a day later it was 13,000.......hummmmmmmmmm and a reason was to fend off all non serious buyer so to speak???

well this just seems like a bunch of change price hike confusion i dont even know the word or words for it.....but think before you sell.....thats what we are saying.......you post a cue from a master, post a description, post pics, post your info, post a price or offers if you gotta, start high then go low like if we started at 13 ended at 7500 great but im not sure id entertain price gouge or this type of sale.if i went to buy a car and the dealer said offers, i said what you want, he said 100k, i started to wanna buy, the next day it was 115k id be like wtf and the main thing thing is with no solid way to prove that worth. there is none no way to say. there are a bunch of people that wanna try to explain what his cues are worth now and the only real answer is what they were sold for at that time, only some time will tell the real worth....the cues are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them anything else is an opinion.for a person to post here and say they are worth this and that is insane!!!!!!!!!!!! list a cue for whatever you want this is the last ill comment on anything, i think some feel mislead that wanted to buy

I do not have a giant collection.

I am not selling any of my Cochrans. I am probably trading my TS box cue for the last Scruggs Cue Timi and Mike sent me and another Scruggs Cue that was special to me. They will not be for sale.
I personally may never sell another cue unless it is to help someone in need, much like the Kers Troy was lucky enough to pick up. I did the Scruggs and Cochran cues to help my friends. Money was never a motive. I supported the artist.
Cues don't = $$. Supporting master builders goes way beyond money. It is the art that is supported.
If I ever sell one of the cues I consider personal it will to donate more money.
There is my motivations in a nutshell so to speak.
And the last thing I will say for a while is Sweet Cue!
Nick :)

If saying what I'm sure a lot of other people are thinking makes me an ass, then I'm guilty as charged. I had nothing but respect for Mike and dealt with him many, many times as Mr. Serdula can attest to so my comments in no way meant any disrespect to Mr. Cochran. That's why it upsets me to see someone try to cash in on his passing and if my opinion is that the sellers price reflects this then deal with it because it's not going to be changed by the politically correct...

Thanks again

Kevin

I would say that in most cases of selling a cue the seller has his own personal best interests at heart. So it really wouldn't be negitive it would be positive for them and their wallet.

I'm not really sure what you were trying to say about me in your last sentance. If you're trying to say that I usually expect the worst from people you would be correct ......But there is a part of me that always hopes for the best. I call it being realistic.

I thought about buying 4K shares of AIG last week under just under $25 a share. Now it is over $35. That $40K would have been nice. Prices are subject to change daily. That is called educated Capitolism!
Nick :)

I THOUGHT ABOUT BEING THE KING OF ENGLAND LAST WEEK, THAT CROWN WOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME!

SOUNDS LIKE LAST WEEK WAS ALMOST AWESOME FOR BOTH OF US.

Misunderstanding

This is the last time I'm going to post about this. I NEVER said the cue was for sale for $7,500. I said when asked in a "PM", "I do know it would need to be over $7,500. Anything less then that and I would keep it and get a loan for any money I may need. Thank you for your iterest in Mikes cues. I wish everyone could get to play with one of his cues. They are great." I did not say I would let it go for that.
I really don't understand the problem with asking for offers? If someone wants the cue, they will step up and buy. If not, move on.
If anyone wants to talk about bad practices, lets talk of how this "7500" came about. My earlier quote was sent as a PRIVATE MESSAGE. Why even send a PM if your going to hang it out anyway. The cue is going to go to the person who should have it.

That is OK, Matt. I usually see the worst end of things, too.

Once upon a time, I thought of starting a Pessimist's Club, but I was sure it wouldn't work.

Thanks for the 1K check Mr Joe

The money was given to Connie this week. Enjoy the Joss! We are grateful.
God bless you brother.
Imagine having a cue you love. Then imagine selling it just to give the money to someone in need. Imagine having a couple of them.
Just makes more sense to me to help.
The cue for sale here is much like that. This gentleman selling but has helping in his heart too.
Should he be greedy and sell the cue for instant gradification-basicly break ever or hope for more and help.
The value is there both in the cue and the intentions.
How can the obvious be so hard to see.
You won't see it with your eyes.

Worth another look.

If you think the only up side is money you don't know what up is.

I undestand why you think wrongly. Is it some type of falicy of disbelief.
Why would I give away more than I make just to give away more.
Must be money???/
Are you nuts man? I am going to make money by giving away more than I make.
Well if you ever read a bible it will tell you that is the only way to know riches. So, yes I have a motive but I am saddened to say you may have to look way up over your head to see it from where you stand today.
Nick :)

It saddens me to read all this bullshit about a cue made by one of the greats. Cut down well before his time. Bottom line is seller can sell for what he wants. You dont want, dont buy. Period. But think of this before you bash the price, what cue on this PLANET is more scarce? Szam, Tasc, Searring, Bushka? No, that would be a Mike Cochran cue. Good luck to you sir on the sell of this cue and whomever buys it I know will love it. I wish I had the money, I know I would buy it.

Sold

The cue is SOLD!!! Thanks to all who supported the sale. Its a shame that the few people had to be nits about it. A true man with true cash will enjoy this cue and feel good knowing he was able to help me and my family in the process. I will miss this cue so much. You guy's have no idea how much, but it was something that had to be done.:(

I think everyone here who is fighting over this needs to stop. He would understand if the cue was being sold to help someone in need. With that said, I hope it's true. If the cue(s) were sold at a higher price than what it was originally sold for, and the seller was being nothing more than greedy, he would have a fit. I know that if someone desperately needed the $$$ he would have no problem with it. But if it's out of greed and nothing more than cashing in on wonderful man's work, I would feel sorry for that person because they are truely a piece of sh*t and don't deserve anything nice in this world.

And I finally thought this thread had died!

Troy

Agreed...anyone want to take a guess who created an account to make their first post here?? I could make a guess or two, but I won't... Congrats to the buyer, it's a beautiful cue.
