Eric

You did way better shooting that can of Spotted Dick! Another try, hmmmmmmmmm.
Thanks for the avitar by the way!!
Your buddy,
Nick :)

the veneers are floaters. Eric takes betteer pictures than i.
Nick :)

I DON'T WANT TO SOUND IGNORANT OR STUPID, BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE VENEERS IS "FLOATING"?

IT'S A 4 VENEER CUE WITH DOTS INLAYED AT THE BASE OF THE POINTS, ABOVE THE PHENOLIC RING. I'M NOT SEEING THE "FLOATING" PART.

JUST LOOKING FOR SOME EDUCATION.

Marcus <-- WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME I WAS "STUPID"

I concur.

B <-------- doesn't get it either.

Igrant?

Maybe a little clearer shot. I would say no one does it better but how about no one else does it.

No dots, dashes, diamonds, or other crap. Just perfection. Every time I have showed this cue to a collector they say the same thing. How the F? Concur dat. The bottom picture has a glare at the base of the point. It is perfect.
Hay Marcus!
Nick :)

Did you recently get this cue from Eric?

I believe I saw this cue at Eric's a few weeks ago. You can clearly see that there is a black phenolic ring above the wrap with 4 black phenolic diamonds in between in point. It looks very cool from afar. But looking up close you can see it.

Construction is exactly the same as my 4 pointer. Only differences are the ringwork, hoppe ring and the bottom of the points. Veneers are even done the same. Just different colors. These are green whereas mine are blue. And yes, there is a black phenolic ring below the points. Cue probably plays jam up as mine hits the balls real sweet. Mike made great cues. Wish I had gotten the last cue he was working on for me, but it is in someone else's collection. Oh, well. If you get a chane to play with one of Mike's cues, do it. Like nothing else. Here is the best pic I have of the difference in points. Appears to be phenolic squares at the bottom of each point. Cant really tell. Great cue either way.

I'm totally confused. On first glance, my guess as to "how'd he do it" would have been black diamonds/squares at the base of each point... just above the black phenolic ring that is easy to see even in Nick's pictures. Apparently, I'm not alone. But Mr. Nick says that's not so?

So what's the deal here? Are Marcus/Chris/me missing something? Please enlighten us. If there's no dots, diamonds, rings or other 'crap' then what are we looking at?

B <--------- concurred dat

PS: what does 'igrant' mean?

OK, OK...... I CIRCLED THE INLAYS THIS TIME, SO NICK CAN SEE THEM.

THERE ARE INLAYS AT THE BASE OF THE POINTS. IT DOES CREATE A COOL LOOK AT THE POINT BASE, BUT IT'S NOT A MAGIC TRICK, AND THE VENEERS AREN'T "FLOATING". CALL IT WHAT IT IS, DON'T MAKE IT SEEM LIKE IT'S SOMETHING NO ONE ELSE CAN DO.

I DON'T GET WHY EVERYTHING HAS TO BE MAGICAL THAT CAME OUT OF THAT SHOP? TIM AND MIKE BUILT GREAT PLAYING CUES, I WON'T ARGUE THAT, AND NEVER HAVE. BUT TO SAY THAT NO OTHER CUE MAKER COULD INLAY BLACK PHENOLIC SQUARES AT THE BASE OF THE POINTS MAKES NO SENSE.

GREAT CUE, NICE WORK, BUT NOTHING "HOUDINI-LIKE" GOING ON.

Marcus

I kinda thought that was pretty obvious all along. Nick threw me when he said that no one else does this (dumb claim) and that there were no inlays (dumb claim).

- B <---------- still concurring

You are looking at a not so great picture.

Nice crayons Marcus. No one that sees this cue sees any inlays. But you have a picture.

Floaters like this one too. Fade that.
Nick :)

Floating points

I am not an expert or know how Mike constructed this affect but it is awful pretty.

Eric holy crap

Eric me either but I want the green one at the top hahaahaha ;)

Forgive Nick he has good intentions here showing off mikes work, Mike is missed, Nick just doesn't explain good on here sometimes. Nick I knew what ya meant to say pretty cues guys. Marcus I agree gets old but people need to explain more so this is avoided, very good examples I learned how he did it now.
