Mike Massey Moved The Ball!

I was watching an old Accu-Stats match last night between Mike Massey and Jose Parica. At the end of the match they were talking with Mike Massey and had a short video of him MOVING THE CB against Rafael Martinez.

It was hard to believe, but I saw it on the tape. It was one of the Sands Regency 9-Ball tournaments back in the early-mid 1990s and Massey actually reached out and moved the CB about an inch or so before he shot to give himself a better angle. And apparently Rafael Martinez didn't say anything because Massey then ran out the rack! Bill Incardona, Mark Wilson, and Buddy Hall were all laughing about all of this.

Just thought I'd pass along this old time war story.

If Massey did move a ball and the action was seen by Incardona, Wilson and Hall, aren't they complicit in cheating also?????

This was in one of the top shots videos Accu-Stats did.

If you are not the ref, you are not there to interfere with the game unless you are asked to confirm something by replay. I am not sure if he was "cheating", just went brain dead for a second. I have seen someone get ball in hand, place the cueball against the rail, clean his shaft with a towel, chalk, then shoot the cueball from where they left it on the rail LOL

It was one of those moments in time we have all be enin.....kinda like, when you had stripes but shot solids and continued your inning. Even the crowd was mesmerized by the moment and it was totally unintentional, definitely a hilarious accu stats moment.

Or the one where the breaker went on to run out the rack after breaking.
He did not make a ball on the break. The 5-ball was on the way to the pocket but came out.
He and the other player presumed it went in.
Buddy Hall was laughing at the Accustats booth.

That was Jimmy Mataya...'the phantom five'
Everybody heard the 5-ball slam the back of the pocket...but it came back out.
...Jimmy won that game by running 9 balls...after breaking dry.

A mental lapse from Mike...he's done a ton of exhibitions.
I doubt if Raf slept it...he showed a lot of savoir faire.

One of Danny Diliberto's worst moments was playing an aging Irving Crane in a
straight pool tournament..Crane missed...and kept shooting...the second time he
did it, Danny said "Mr Crane, it's my shot now. Irving said "We're just knocking them
around."....Danny felt terrible to see this icon get too old.

As I recall, he had a spell of that but the doctors finally figured out what was wrong and he got back to normal.

Grady was saying he was not sure how he should mark that for the Accu-Stats, he said he had to give him an error because he broke dry LOL

Im looking EFREN REYES VS Rafael Martinez 90's very rare video.
They removed it from youtube.

If I remember right, Crane didn't miss, he moved the cueball to improve his break shot as though he was just practicing.

Danny will often imbellish a story a little for entertainment value.

One thing I learned the first month in the pool room.…..

Say Nothing!!!!

If it ain’t your game, silence is golden. NEVER comment on anything. A move, foul, accidental or intentional. “I wasn’t looking “ is the best answer and it applies to this video.

I wasn’t looking, sorry can’t say,

Some players should have a referee present for every game they play in tournaments.

During a SD state 3 man 9-ball tournament, a guy from Huron pulled a Fast one and continued shooting after a miss against a teammate. A ref was called for the rest of the match.

At an ACUI tournament final of the winners bracket, a MN player continued shooting after a miss, even though others were watching the match. He went on to win the regional tournament in 1988.

A young player who was very good in SD would place a moved object ball in a new position to block the intended shot, even if it were over 12 inches away originally. He was also an expert at stacking the rack, making it near impossible to get a good break.

Mike would have occasional brain lapses. He was so used to moving the cue ball around in his exhibitions it was second nature to him.

In all my years directing tournaments here's my all time favoite. Earl is playing Shannon Daulton at the Sands in the early 90's. This is in Earl's prime and he is putting a barrage of racks on Shannon, breaking and running one after another. He literally shot Shannon into a coma, as he is sitting there mesmerized in his chair. After maybe six racks, Earl has a tricky shot on the five ball in the side. He makes the ball but scratches. Shannon sits there stunned, unsure what just happened. He slowly walks to the table, looks around and takes the five ball out of the pocket and places it on the table as close as he could to where it had been before. Now he gets the cue ball and starts to play BIH on the five (which of course should have stayed down). Everybody watching the match is laughing and Shannon still has no idea why. Finally Earl saves the day by reaching out with his cue and putting the tip in front of the five ball. He tells Shannon that the five stays down and he has BIH on the six. Shannon looks stunned, but slowly comes out of his coma. He now realizes what he's done and starts laughing at himself. That was classic! For a moment Shannon Daulton had forgotten how to play pool!
