How do they compare to the ones Jensen makes? can you post a picture? what tips do you start with before you doctor them up?

The milk dud I began playin with came from Jensen, I replaced a ivory ferrulle for azer Sherlock, who plays with a nice Jensen with a James White shaft and he turned me on to it I tried a few diff. recipes before I got the hit I wanted but I am very happy with it, I can send a pic by cell phone now or try to post some tom. Thanks I start with elk master but could do others if u want

Why do you want to call them knockoffs?? Knockoffs imply cheap, poor quality.

I make Milk Duds too; the Filipinos came up with them first.

Mine are no "knockoffs," BTW, they are not for sale, either.

I give them to friends...

Want my recipe? Do a search on AZ; there are several threads.

I'm a bit green so what is a Milk Dud tip exactaly???

Biz

Mike Johnson of Jensen cues soaks Elkmaster tips in milk for a long period of time. Then he puts them in a high pressure press that he has and compresses them over another period of time. The result is a relatively hard tip that holds chalk very well. Many players who have tried them have come to swear by them.

Nick, I have to side with the poster here, the name Milkdud has been applied to specially modified tips since the 1970's. I use to use back in St.Louis, and I have been making them myself since then, however, I make them out of Le Pro tips.

Take care

Milk Dud recipe

I spoke with Mike years ago regarding the recipe for his tips. He uses (or used at that time) Blue Diamond tips as his base tip (select grade of Elk Master that is made for Brunswick). Sand the bottom of the tips. Soak the tips in buttermilk for a full day. The next day, you take the tip and stick them in a vise and press them. Press them for two days. After the two days, throw out any tips that cracked. If it didn't crack, it's good to go.

Word of warning. Trim with a NEW razor blade. They will self destruct on you if you use a dull blade.

So, how much do I charge for the recipe?

This is not a disscussion thread, someone is selling a stuff and if u want u can buy it but if u r not looking to buy and just want to post information on how to make tips than u can post in another section.
We all know the recipe to make cues so do we all become cuemakers?

I think this post is uncalled for here.
