*** Mosconi Cup 2015 Updates Thread ***

Now the trick is....to get the general public...who comprise 90% of the players that play pool to ''watch'' a shot such as what Shane shot.... and too UNDERSTAND IT'S AMAZING SKILL....if that happens..... we'll get the Color of Money crowd back in the picture....that can only be good for the sport.

Get it off ESPN3 and onto ESPN and that happens.

I want to thank genipool14 for posting the final shot on Youtube. I missed the last match of the day.

What a shot by Shane. Hopefully that shot breaks his slump in the Mosconi Cup. This was long overdue for him.

yes sir, I am.

but now I have to repair my ceiling where my head went through when I jumped outta my chair.

not kidding on that. :grin-square::thumbup::grin-square:

The arena here ERUPTED when Shane hit that shot!

Awesome finish to day 2.

So after Day 2, USA surprisingly has better doubles record than Europe winning 3 out of 5. But singles record is disastrous with 0 wins out of 4 ( last year was 2 out of 8 for whole event ). Problem is that there are only 3 doubles matches left and plenty of singles 8 matches left. Even if USA wins 2 out of remaining 3 doubles on Day 3, they will still need to wing / win 5 out of 8 remaining singles matches . Last year they only managed to win 2 out of 8 singles. By hook or by crook, USA has to win at least 1 match on Day 3 and prevent early finish and Boyes from partying on Day3

I have to say that I like MD/Sky's chances over Ouchan/Boyes (just don't push out to any jumps) and maybe even Shane over Niels (tough action for sure) with some hopeful new confidence following his incredible winning carom last night.

BUT

We are def going to need some real stepping it up in our other matches to turn this thing around.

As Jimmy Valvano said, and I totally agree, "Never Give Up".

Looking forward to todays action, tall order or not.

best,
brian kc

the money list doesn't tell the story of who the best is in a situation like the Mosconi cup. If you watched Justin last year he clearly shines in this type of an event.

I agree with you 100%, but from what I understand there were no coaches picks this year and the selection this year was based entirely on the money list. I may be wrong about that... If so, someone please correct me.

I hope Justin Hall plays and cashes in more tournaments next year... He's from my area and I always root for him if I know he's in the field.

Starting with Deuel in the first two matches doesn't seem like the best move.

I noticed that and thought the same thing. Then, again, maybe he will be able to stay in stroke on the TV table equipment. Sometimes sitting on the sidelines, a player can get cold.

I think this is a coach/captain showing him that he has confidence in him, and thusly, giving Deuel a little more confidence. I like the move personally.

He's probably going to win both of them or lose both of them plus I think the rotation has forced this, he's only person to not play singles and he has to be in a doubles pairing at this point as well in order to get Bergman an extra singles match. Run him twice in a row is actually pretty good strategy assuming Bergman is who you trust for the extra singles match. I could see a comeback happening today,

Meanwhile on Euro you have the guy with the highest win% ever and he's only playing once. They must like it close cause I don't love their lineup today. The USA lineup makes perfect sense with what is available.

I think so too, it's bizarre how much he's struggling yet has made some of the best single shots of anyone in the tournament. If he can find his old pal rhythm that will surely fuel the entire squad with momentum and confidence.
I'm a fan of Corey, hope things go better for him this afternoon

agreed, it's probably going to be feast or famine. With only 5 players at the captain's disposal there are only so many possible combinations.
