MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

Yeah the 8 ball rattle-in was alarming as his entire demeanor looked off. He looked like a league player getting to the last couple balls and suddenly afraid (ask how I know so well what that looks like). He had no focus and intensity, just....fear? It came as no surprise to see him timidly miss the 9.

Then the missed 7 later he was clearly just lined up wrong the entire time. I mean I hate to say this about an umpteen time major tournament champion, but he really seems to be folding under pressure.

What is it about the MC that is different from all the other tournaments in which he confidently plays like a stud? Perhaps it's a team dynamic thing?
Classic introvert....
Man had tough upbringing with his peers.

The minute you tell yourself don't be nervous...you just admitted you are.

Pool gods just screwed US the 4th set. What does it take to get a roll?

US needs to win 3 or 4 sets tomorrow or this one is going to get ugly.

Filler just skewered our best player 5-0! Ouch
Well at least Sky did nothing wrong....somehow it softens the blow when you never see a shot.

Filler is a beast. Watching him play the ghost out of Roy's Basement for money was just the most amazing thing. People kept betting me he couldn't win ... and he kept doing it. His top gear for an offense only game is unwordly.

Dont know if this has been discussed before but i havent read all the pages to be frank. But Fedor seems to be playing with a brand new cue and shaft, his grip is white look like a tennis type of grip? Any1 know whats his new cue/shaft & if he's sponsored or by choice?
New sponsor
Triple 60, makers of the Whyte Carbon shaft, and Viking Cues.

Yeah, that 9 ball was bad but then that 7…that was just an unbelievable miss
I can’t figure out why he left himself as long as he did on the 9 ball - wasn’t the 8 ball virtually hanging in the pocket? Then the miss on the 7 was even worse. He was straight in and all he had to do was to draw back to play the 9 in the same pocket. Mosconi Cup pressure!

With the way this is going, I prolly am not gonna watch past today, and this event is probably not gonna be on my list of events to make time to watch in the future.
And according to Matchroom (Barry & Emily), this event is the best you could ever get in nineball (to put the brand of the game the way they like).

Shane doesn’t ever miss that nine and he knows it. He makes that ball 99 out of 100. Missing that ball short circuited him mentally.

I would also say had he broke and ran that game the outcome would be much different. That would have set a different tone and would have lifted up the teams confidence.

But missing that nine caused team USA to have to sit there and watch team euro smirk and laugh at Shane and their team and on top of that the euro fans were ignited also hard to shake.

Brutal situation.

what ghost # did he beat? Aren't almost all pros favored to beat the 9 or 10 ball ghost?

Not knocking him- he is clearly one of the top players, if not the top player in the world right now.

Time for a new captain. Anybody that's paid even a little attention knows SVB does not play well in the Mosconi. Jeremy set the team up for failure running SVB so early. I would have had him ranked 3rd on the team, maybe even 4th as Tyler's B game is getting pretty solid.

The Mosconi has ALWAYS been about your B game, not your A. It's about how poorly you're capable of playing, not how great you can. Shane can play very poorly in the Cup and everybody knows this. I guess except for JJ.
