Mosconi cup 3rd team?

A lot of people love Mosconi cup, including me!
A lot of people think of possible ways about making it even more exciting!
A lot of people argue about which team could be called the "Pool Dream team". Some believe in USA, some in Europe, others in Asia, etc.
There is only one way to find out!
I'm asking the moderators and all az members if they agree to create a poll about adding a third team to the Mosconi cup! An Asia team for eg could be formed by the federations organizing who would play in that team, taking into consideration people's choice too.
The az poll result ("add a third team to the Mosconi cup, yes/no"), should it come up with with a "yes", it could be sent to the Mosconi cup organizers for consideration.

You can start the poll yourself. Why limit it to 3 teams. Why not have a world team pool event? You could have a team from China, Russia, India, the Phillipines, Saudi Arabia etc. That type of world team tournament might draw some big sponsorship deals. Make sure it's not a guaranteed payday and we might see some really good competition. It could be a winner take all team tournament for $1,000,000 and that might raise some national pride and give an incentive for more people to want to watch it on stream or TV.
 
A team world cup was held in 2010, unfortunately it doesn't look like we're gonna see one again soon.. No necessary funds look to be avalilable at the world pool scene right now.
A third team add to the Mosconi cup would be more a more realistic goal at the moment.
Unfortunately I don't know how to make a poll myself and I'm looking for other's opinion on it, along with the opinion of the moderators.
The whole idea is to send a possible yes outcome as a formal suggestion to the Mosconi cup organizers on behalf of the az community.
I don't feel I have the right to take that kind of responsibility alone.
As much as we are in trouble right now, Greeks haven't forgotten about the idea of democracy. :)
I feel most of our az fellow members would agree with this approach.

Its the Ryder Cup of pool!! There is no way they're gonna chage that and honestly..... I dont want it to change either. The only thing broken is the politics involed with Team USA and that's the end of it :shakehead:

Leave it alone. U r changing the event and it wouldnt be the same. Make a new event if you want a compitition with 3 teams
 
Absoultely sick to death of all these stupid topics about how to change the Mosconi Cup, really sick of it!

The Mosconi is great because of the USA Europe rivalry which spreads amongst many sports, stop all this rubbish about adding a team Asia, by all means it would be great to have that team but why can't it be done in another tournament like the Phillipenes v the rest of the world which we had a couple years ago. Why does it have to change the Mosconi?

It seems like im one of the only people that actually like the Mosconi Cup the way it is.

My idea came out from all the argument about "who is best".
There's only one way to find out, 2010 team world cup was great, the British team won over the Philippines in the final, unfortunately it doesn't seem like it's established as a tournament.
I agree Mosconi cup doesn't need too much help in keeping everybody's interest, just thought I might throw in this idea for discussion, could it be made better, or avoid any loss of interest in the future?
I love Mosconi cup like almost everybody, I'd like to see something different about it next year though. Could this be it? A third team? Something else?
Something to solve the "mystery" of which Pool force is the best in the planet?...
Or just leave it as it is? Just asking for other's opinion..

What I'm sick of is this idea that if US players defeat players from another nation (any sport), it somehow proves that the US and "Americans" are better than anyone else. If we continue to lose to other nations, will that be a reason to invade them? Or we could just send in drones to knock of their top athletes, huh? After all, they're threatening our "way of life" (believing we're the best at everything)! Nation vs. nation proves nothing and even seems to create animosity at times. It's as stupid as having teams based on religion, skin color or any other arbitrary labeling.

How about teams of players using a particular brand of cue? The Predator team vs. the Mezz team, etc., rather than nation against nation. The teams would be financed and the prizes furnished by the sponsors. Teams would HAVE to use their sponsors products, - we might learn a bit about the players and some of the big cue makers with such a format!

I like the MC the way it is. With the exception of putting up the same team we would use if our lives depended on the win.

Petros I would agree with others that we should not change the format of the Mosconi Cup much at least not until team Europe has tied the score;).

I do like your forward way of thinking. It is from people like you that new ideas are born and that will in the end be what helps the game. Many here like to say that this game is dying in tis country (US) but I for one don't believe it is anything more then a slump.

If a few counties got teams together and followed a similar format as the MC and with the right type of promotion it could be very exciting!. Many folks have been trying to get the cue sports into the Olympics and I don't think the Olympics wants want the game.

If this concept is properly thought out I could see a lot of players aiming high at a chance to play for their country.:cool:
