Mosconi cup hypothetical

Actually it would be much closer than on 9fter as the quality of fundamentals stands on euro side and by taking it to 7fter that advantage would be more or less leveled. On the other hand-who would watch it?why would anyone watch pros play on childrens table???

I would like to see them switch to 10 footers and change the game to 10 ball. And rack the 1 ball on the spot.

That would be exciting. :)

Agreed.

The gap in pocketing would be reduced and the advantage Europe normally has because of superior pattern play would be reduced, too. Although US pros have some of their pro events on the bar tables, let's not overlook that all the UK 8-ball players, most notably Appleton, Boyes, Melling, and Shaw, have vast experience on the small tables, too, from their English 8-ball days.

Finally, count me among those who'd not be inclined to watch the Mosconi were it contested on bar tables.

For sure Europe's top ten players are better than our top ten, but I would like to see there top 5 vs our top 5, W/O the big crowd screaming. I have a hunch the U.S will be a much better team. Johnnyt

Happy Holidays to all.

If the MC was played on 7ft. Valleys, wouls the U.S. be heavy favorites?[/QUOTE

No, a change in table size wouldn't suddenly make the U.S. heavy favorites, that's laughable.
That sort of hypothetical situation takes us away from the point.

The Europeans are better tacticians--period.

The Europeans have the U.S. players beat on pattern play.
With a smaller table, the patterns simply decrease in size, other proportionate dynamics, notwithstanding.
