Mosconi Cup team change.

Well looking at the Mosconi Cup points race Putnam was just behind Archer for the 3rd place spot. Just by looking at it I think that Putnam will already have moved into 3rd place as he will finish ahead of JA. I think this is the first year in a LONG time that JA has not qualified on points alone.

As we know Matchroom have 2 wild card picks of their own andI really can't imagine them not picking JA as one of their wildcards and Earl had a good showing so my prediction is that team USA this year will be

SVB
Deschaine
Putnam
Archer
Strickland.

This could make in my opinion a wild team, SVB is always nice and cool but Deschaine has had his problems in the past with other players maybe he has grown out of that but may get under some peoples skin. Strickland... I need not say anything. I don't believe that there is any love lost between JA and Strickland or Putnam and Strickland.

So I hope that they can all pull together some how for the good of the team. Then again all this could be BS but just an educated guess at what the team will look like.

I agree with Archer as a wild card, I think Hatch may get the nod especially if he's crowned 2011 US Open champ. Either way it will be an exciting Mosconi Cup.

Yeah, you may be right there, Dennis did bring a lot of fire to the team.

I love the Mosconi Cup and know that the 2011 version will be exicting.

However, I am tired of hearing the matter of who will make the teams beaten to death in the US Open commentary booth.

For the benefit of the commentators, I'll point out that winning the US Open is the motivation for today's competitors, not getting onto the Mosconi Cup team.

I agree with everything you've said. lol... The match hasn't started yet and they've all ready mentioned the Mosconi Cup and how Hatch has to win his match to make it over Morris. They were speculating of course.

Sorry guys I did not get the stream and so I had no idea they were talking it up so much. However, I am not really saying that they are doing anything but trying to win the US Open. I am just talking of the biproduct of where things stand right now. I will stfu and let the commentary speculate :)

Sorry, BFDLAD, it's just that the thread made me think of how much they are beating this topic to death on the stream. It is an interestng topic, but it will be far more interesting tonight once we've seen where the US Open chips have fallen.

Earl had a good showing, but Hatch is still in the friggin Open as you speak...

I am not a Hatch fan, and I would rather see Earl there. But if you are going on good showings at the US-Open it is pretty obvious Hatch had a better showing at this tourney then Earl. Alot better.

I agree, butthe wild card pick matchroom said they "would take the points into consideration". Consideration but not the whole reason to pick someone. I think it could be either of them to be honest after thinking about how much excitement Hatch brought to the USA team in the past. I think its a 50/50 one ifit be Earl or Dennis. Then again, Matchroom callthe shots and may surprise everyone. They don't have to pick JA, Earl or Hatch. So who knows?

That is all well and good.

and Earl had a good showing so my prediction is...

Suggests strongly that you were putting alot of weight in US-Open showings, and then cut out a guy who was on the team the last two years and was guarenteed no less then 4th in the US Open.

You cannot have your cake and eat it too. Either the US-Open results are important, and that makes Hatch a strong favorite, or they are not and that means that what Earl did in the US-Open is not much of a factor, to the benefit of Earl if he is competeing with Hatch for that last spot...

If ratings increase with Stricklands attendance then Earl will be there, + his play this yr is on the upswing.

Not sure if you aretrying to start a fight with me or not but if you see my post #10 I said after looking at it it could be 50/50. Just speculating man not of this means anything until Matchroom makes the call on what they think is the most important. Not me or you. Matchroom.

Not trying to start a fight. I am actually on your side of the fence in this, I want to see Earl at the Mosconi Cup, I wanted him to win the US-Open and give Matchroom no choice BUT to put him on the team. But he lost to Putnam, and Hatch went and ended up going way deeper then Earl. And as much as my emotional side would like to see Earl there my practical common sense side says Hatch probably deserves it more at this point.

You tried to put a logical common sense arguement out there on why Earl should be there. At this point that does not work, if Earl gets there it is not because of the common sense numbers, Earl needs to get there on fans and matchroom wanting him to be there, not because he did enough this year to outright deserve it. That is sad, but that is the reality after losing to Putnam and then getting knocked off the B-side quickly.

If we are going to argue about Earl making the team this year we are down to "because we want to watch Earl", not "Because Earl played great this year and deserves it!".

Ok, got ya and I am not sure that I want Earl on the team. Seems to cause friction amongst the other team members. Hatch would be a better pick FOR THE TEAM imo. For ratings Earl may be better.

I'm an earl fan but after watching fridays match at the open please pick Hatch who isnt my favorite but he's not going to give up like earl did.

The Mosconi race has been the topic here at the Open all week.... To top it off JA told Hatch he had to finish 3rd to make the team when Dennis was arguing his case that he had done enough.... Several of the Euros were on the cutting line as well and since the Open is a points event this was a huge point of discussion among most spectators....

The people who bought the stream heard exactly what was in the air all week... It was not merely the commentators deciding to make the points a headline topic.......

The OP's list is wrong. Archer and Putman refused to go if Earl was going to be on the team. So either Earl's not on it or the two I just mentioned will turn down $7500-$15000 + exspenses. Right, when pigs can fly. Johnnyt

PS:And why wouldn't everyone be talking about who will make the Mosconi Cup Team. There were a bunch of players that were/are in the hunt to make the team. The US Open is the last points tournament before the cup. It's like saying don't talk about what teams will make the play-offs during the regular season of baseball, football, basketball, ect.
