Mosconi Cup Unpicked Players Bail Out

Kid Dynamite has no clue... First learn to read I was defending the 3 and what gives you the right to criticize the players that have made it? They all play better than you and from what I've read you don't know much about pool. Popularity contest ha I should not even say this but Mark told me he was going to look at me 10x harder than other players because he was so worried he thought people would put him down if he picked me thinking that guys like that are on here would assume I got picked just because he knows me well. I think you should go back and read my first response to all this and I never said one bad thing about anyone. I defended them all I said was it would be tough to go and not play but I would have probably went but can't say for sure because I'm not in the spot.
Take two steps back and reflect.

You understand my point and the comment was not an attack on you, I think you are one of the top 5. I have said so publicly on here several months ago! Check my history sir before going off like a rocket! http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=4606992

You must feel weird not given the opportunity to earn your slot. That is not a mark on you but on the manner in which things were done.

The decision to pick 8 and let them compete for the 5 available slots seemed smart to me. But, that went out the window.

lol, Justin, welcome to AZ.

Lou Figueroa
it'll get much worse
before it gets better

I've read AZ for awhile Lou.. I know how it goes but I love it bc I love pool...

Kid I'm not going off you said something about them bailing on us I don't remember what it said exactly I don't feel like going back and don't feel like getting into it but feel like defending myself because I never said anything like that. All I was saying was I kinda feel both sides of the fence. Not trying to start and argument if I was mistaken my bad...

Alright, I will go with the team to England. Please tell Corey to give me a call. I require a free plane flight and personal room, daily per diem, and 20% of a winners share. And all I can drink alcohol of course. Book it!

I'm being to wonder if people realize this is not a big deal (or even a small deal) to anybody outside of this forum, but that's par for the course on this board.

Justin won 47 k so far this yrs obviously a easy decision obviously Shane's on ,, John and Cory based on pedigree you have to go with them the others were a toss up all in around the 10k or under category so there no clear cut player left off that deserved to be on the team ,
In building a team you have to have other considerations , chemestry being one of them
You and I or anyone else here knows how they mingled together ,
Mark has the final say and there has been very few I have heard that question his credentials ,,
I think he deserves a chance to be judged on the results before us not in the know question his decision making ,

One,

The 3 are and have been judged over and over in this thread. My points have all been valid and many go unaddressed.

The system or method of selection was never clearly stated. To cherry pick the money board as the grounds for selection is inaccurate.

Like Oscar said he was expecting for the 8 to compete head to head and that never happened.

Head to head seriously ? When has that unprecedented format ever been used , I would certainly like to know if that was stated as I find that very hard to believe and if it was then I can see them not following on a comittment
From my seat however I see they were all fighting for one spot Halls and we have to rely on the guy who is making the decisions

Justin...... mind a little advise? Dont bother with any of this crap on AZB for now. Save it for after the victory. Now.....get your butt back to the practice table! Lol

I felt Schmidt, Deuel & hall were boarder line at best. On a clear day in a round robin or head to head match up anyone of those 3 could get knocked on their a$$ by the 3 omitted.

But you know as well as anyone, pool players can be in ruts and funks, I personally watched oscar
, jeremy, and brandon at turning stone and they were not on top of their game. Couple that with bergmans us open performance and you can see he was in stride and they werent.
Saying bergman didnt get a chance to earn it is being obtuse when you observe the last ten months as a whole.
so to have a head to head match up to see who earns a spot is nothing when comparing competition performancd over a ten month time frame.
And duel, shmidt, and svb, all us open champions, that gets them points in the experience column. They can reach that level wilson needs and have proven it. Oscar, jeremy, brandon have not.

Your kidding right Corey's wins life time resembles a who's done what list of accomplishments to date none of those players can even whiff the wins he's had ,and Known as one of the best minds in pool bar zero ,,John oh the only things he's done is run 400 + balls and won a U.S. open Ya he's not up to those credentials of late but no one of those guys can pick his stick when he's taken the gam seriously ,,
What do think Marks be doing siting in the wood shed in the dark , don't you think he's watchef these players playing first hand of did he just pluck thier names in a hat

What a non-issue. It will never cease to amaze me what a big deal people on here make over every little detail of an exhibition match whose sole purpose is to make Barry Hearn money.

It not even close to "just an exhibition match" to a lot of us. I see it as the "pinnacle of pool pressure"! It takes serious guts to play under the conditions the Mosconi Cup is played under. Especially when your dealing with that European crowd! They really have spirit....although sometimes unsportsmanlike. It is the most exciting event in pool IMO.

On the other hand you are correct....some people use too high a power microscope.

Justin most certainly did earn his spot! He has played great all year and traveled all over the map playing in events with tough ass fields. It's you who needs to take two steps back and reflect.

You must have been watching something different than I was this past year and especially the past couple of months. However, it is irrelevant. The picks have been made and short of death, serious illness or serious family issues, the 5 are the 5. Time to quit all the crap and get on board with Team USA.

Jay,

There are three other guys then Justin Bergman. It really is in bad taste to pick the best one of the four for your example.

Regarding the other 3, dueul is and has been more focused on golf and his record over the last two years has not been good.

Schmidt has not played much at all and was dirt bike riding and golfing. Plays in very few tournaments.

Hall is on par with the rest. This is just honest truths.

You directed your comments at Justin and I responded to that. I thought your comments were also in bad taste, and had little bearing on what actually went into Mark's selection process. Corey has played well this year and had a good showing at the U.S. Open. John is a thoroughbred and I fully expect him to rise to the occasion. I think Mark opted for experience first (Shane, John and Corey) and youth second (both Justin's). I like the make-up of this team and we will all have to wait and see how they fare against a very strong European team.
