Mosconi Cup Updates

Can't believe Rodney played so poorly. He is one of my favorite players. I guess all players are susceptible to pressure

Momentum is a funny thing. Also, there's something about the nineteenth match. I recall how at 9-9 in, I believe, 2002, Tony Robles beat Mika Immonen to set the stage for a US victory. Hey, yoi never know!

Pretty good memory. I had to look it up. It was 2003, the US was ahead 9-8, and Tony's win over Immonen took them to 10-8. Souquet then beat Williams for 10-9, and Jones beat Chamat to clinch it 11-9 for the US.

When inteviewed right afterthe match, Charlie's first comments were about how the Europeans got more rolls. Just classless! Thankfully, he eventually changed course, and took note of how fantastic Chris Melling played. I have to admit that Melling's fine play is one of the things I'll remember most about this Mosconi Cup. Unfortunately, Charlie's comments are the norm these days in America. The American pros need to stop making excuses and start holding themselves more accountable for their setbacks.

Well played, Europe.

Why did they give Charlie the mic. (face in palm)

That image was priceless. And poor, poor Rodney. Man, his match was actually painful for me to watch. It's rare on the pro pool scene that I actually feel embarrassed for a player, but I did today for Morris. Just a pitiful display really. He just regurgitated all over himself. :barf:Too much pressure I guess. Ah well, life goes on...

And congrats to Team Euro!

The two skidded for sure on that shot, the roll was all wrong on the 2 after contact.

No doubt, it turned around its axis with an amount of side spin one can't possibly transmit between a perfectly clean and dry cue and object ball. One might see it as retributive justice that Rodney got the table handed back immediately after Niels's miss, with what seemed a fair enough cut on the 2 - but his two last shots, well…

All in all, a well-deserved win by Team Europe – some great shooting on either side, some lucky and unlucky rolls on either side, and perhaps a higher percentage of disappointingly poor shots on the losers' team's side, as far as I counted (most by Dechaine, Morris and Putnam).

Truly worth sitting and watching the whole time through, though! Loved every minute!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.
