Our 4 guys, quiet by nature?

If we were to assess the existing 4 selections' personalities, and try to choose the 5th with that in mind, what might we come up with?

I'm not close enough with our 4, but that won't stop me from speculating.

Johnny brings quiet confidence & 13 Cup's worth of experience.

Shane seems pretty quiet and has been on the last 2 Cups, both L's.

Corey has 6 cups under his belt and seems pretty quiet too. His passion for pool has been questioned here, although no one questions his talent.

Oscar seems quiet as our only rookie, and is seemingly a blank slate, presumably very impressionable.

IMO, we have 4 fairly quiet talents. Might we be wise to consider our vote for #5 to be someone a little extroverted? If the Europeans get on a roll, would we benefit from someone that'll loudly grab his teamates bootstraps and try to swing momentum?

I know our captain will have a role in this, but maybe an extrovert on our team would be a good thing.

voted for Williams. he been playing well and tho he's not well liked I heard the USA hadnt won since 2005 when he was last on team. superstitious LOL

Hi, Spade. Do you work for Dragon Promotions? They have really provided some nice events in recent times.

How about Donny? How did Kim get a bid over Donny? And no mention of Earl what a pitty. Why doesn't MRS let the captain pick the last player as does the Ryder Cup? This is *ull Sh!t!

Since the U.S. has an unbalanced pool governing body, I'm assuming this is the only way Matchroom could produce a level playing field for the American members to be selected.

Kim did well at the U.S. Open this year, and I think he did well at Turning Stone too. You have to play in the BCA events and get your name on the points list.

Kim also was a team captain one year in Vegas for Mosconi Cup, and, as most know, he's good friends with Johnny Archer, of course.

They went with the remaining top 8 in BCA points, where no Donny or Earl are to be found. Why that criteria wasn't announced eons ago, I don't know. It's their sandbox and we'll like it. And I am excited regardless!!

I'll like this process better next year (if they keep it) and I think the players will too. I know I plan to play in all BCA qualifying events next year.

That is my thought too

. . . .

I keep wanting to vote for Rodney. I like what I know about him and he is a reliable team member. However I do think that if we put the same team out there as much as possible we are going to get pretty much the same results and I want a win. Hillbilly has a lot of firepower on the table, I feel sure he will work with the team, and I think he might be just the antidote for the more raucous european fans.

Watching the Packers/Viking game yesterday the boo birds were out in force until Brett jumped out to an early lead. They got quiet when the Vikings were putting a serious whupping on the Packers and then got loud again when the Packers were coming back. I'm thinking that Charlie and Oscar might be able to quiet the european fans just as well as Brett's play did.

All of the other players are known entities to the Europeans except for maybe Oscar and I'm thinking that Oscar and Charlie Bryant might be just the wild cards we need to blow things open. Always a guess but I think that both of them may rise to the occasion and play fantastic pool.

i voted for the big hillbilly i also think we need a spark plug and he is a very funny guy

The voting is so tough with so many deserving players. I like Charley B. for his competitive spirit and fun personality. I like Rodney for his steadying influence on the team. I like Dennis for his awesome firepower. I also like Charlie W. who has been a steady contender for the last two years, John Schmidt for his overall ability and Shawn Putnam for his table and team presence. Did I leave anyone out? Oh yeah, Stevie has been playing great for a long time now. And winning!

Like I said earlier you could make a good team just off this list of eight players. Just like we are seeing here, I suspect the actual voting will be close between two or three players.

I was torn between Rodney & John.

Decided on John to add another new face with a good attitude to the team
