Last night after the the first match Ralph played in, he came back to do a phone interview with the German TV guys during the Drago/Morris match.

He mentioned something about the tables having a pretty serious lean...
As anybody else heard anyone talk about it? ... Seems odd that a TV table and a major event would be set up off kilt.

Can we get an "amen"!?

I saw Ralf pocket a shot in the upper right hand corner that NEVER should have gone in... next to last game. The shot was at a nearly 30 degree angle and hit the rail at least 6" ahead of the pocket and it still went in.

Wyche was incredulous and so was I. It was a terrible shot and simply did not deserve to go in. It NEVER would have on any Diamond Pro in captivity.
 
I look at tables the way I look at courses on the PGA. Augusta will play quicker than the British Open course, but the British Open course's rough will be slightly harder. The players need to adjust to the conditions. Now if the table is not level... that is an adjustment they should not have to make.
 
I havent heard anybody mention it anywhere else... but Ralph said on the post match phone interview with the German crew.

As he was talking aobut it I could of swore that while watching Drago and Morris lag I saw Morris' lag trail off to the bottom corner once it got past the side pockets......

DO any of you guys who bought the online PPV have the abiltiy to watch archives... I would bve interrrested to see if it was just the power of suggestion that was playing tricks on my eyes!!!

I do have the PPV, but I can't find any way to look at the archived footage... but I know the lag you are talking about. It looked pretty straight and then started trailing off as it passed the half table mark. Nice catch... I noticed that but it did not register.
 
There is a roll in the table at the Mosconi, I noticed it a few times on the near right side of the table, (Looking from the foot spot to the Head String), I noticed it particuarly on a few shots in around the same area of the table, when I was watching the highlights of Day 1 matches :)

I think that the Question to be asked, is not about the table, but the who it was that set the stageing and the table itself up, after all, the stage itself may have dropped slightly, cause the table to drop a little and make a level table turn bad.

I've noticed it on a few shots yesterday, table seems to be rolling of to the left. I also assumed my eyes were playing tricks, guess not!

and it looks like the table rolls toward the side rails, possibly on both sides, I know that does not make logical sense but I have seen it before. Another indicator of a table that rolls toward the side rails is if you notice many of the break shots end with several balls against or very near the side rails. I especially noticed it on several shots slowing down near the right hand side of the table looking from the foot spot to the head of the table. Surely someone will work on that before today's matches. One thing I think is odd is that the commentators keep talking about tight the table is but I have seen several shots hit before the first diamond and still go in, but as we all know new cloth slides quite a bit. But I do agree that it is like golf, they are all playing on the same course.:) :)

rolling to the left from the head spot, many of the positional shots ended up with the cueball laying on that rail.

Dave, we cannnot both be victims of poor eyes:D :D

The table rolls off, cloth and rails are very slow. When someone hits it hard for 3 or 4 rali position you can hear a sound almost like the end rails are loose or dead. Not bad for for the Mosconi Cup TV table that maybe millions are watching.:rolleyes: Johnnyt

It doesn't take a Diamond to have a level playing surface. I agree that Diamond would be my first choice, but there ain't nothing wrong with a Gold Crown. It's not like it's particle board under the cloth. LOL.

A Diamond Pro-Am may have the best leveling system, but it still doesn't level itself. Any table can play bad if it's not set up right.

That said, it would be a lot easier to fix after the fact with the 1-piece slate of a Diamond Pro-Am.
