The players out there are legends, but I agree; a younger team would have brought a little more fire - they would have a little more to prove; I love that underdog attitude and am not feeling that from these guys.

SVB
Shuff
DeChaine
Mike Davis

...and heck, I wouldn't mind seeing a Charlie Williams in the lineup. And this doesn't mean to knock on how excellent our American players are - I just think we have a deep bench we've never tapped into and a change could be a good idea.

I'll take anyone on the current team over CW. Not necessarily because they play better, but because of how annoying it is to watch him play.

I would take Buddy shooting from the scooter before I would watch CW...

We've already seen what Deshane and Shuff are capable of under the Mosconi heat..You take your 5 monsters here excluding SVB and Deuel I will take the 5 playing. Play the same format and we will see what happens:-))))). The rolls totally went Euros way and they had easy lay-outs. Let's see what happens tomorrow. None of the players you mentioned make any sense except SVB or Deuel...Don't forget the race is to 11 points, not 5....

With all due respect it was 9/9 last year and got the best MC Ratings ever

That is one of the biggest dangers. How many years in a row will it take of team USA getting beat like a red headed step child before the Mosconi Cup starts to lose the interest of the fans?

With all due respect it was 9/9 last year on the last day, {that's not exactly "lop sided"} and received the best ratings of ANY prior Mosconi Cup. It's a "made for TV" type event and more people watch it than all our "streaming" pool tournaments put together (except for our ESPN Events like "Challenge of Champions").

This team stuff is a "crap shoot," it's not really about who's best, it's got a HUGE luck factor. This years event will come down to the last day, wait and see......and the ratings will be really good, maybe even better than last year.

Everyone likes a great come back and there's a 40/60 chance that's what we'll see.

what a damn donkey-day! but only cause we lost TODAY - we'll give them 1, right?

today was AMAZING. i have NEVER seen the US crowd bring-it like we did today. foot-stomping! U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A chanting. whistling. U-____/U-RUP....

we brought it HOME.
and SHUT THEM UP.
(shocking, huh?)
now all we have to do is FINISH IT.

(6 of us are @ the FRONT ROW/CENTER - i'm wearing AZB tshirt & KK9's waving US flags from his nipples - next to LOU FIGUERARO & Sky Sports & ____)

Mike Davis.
Puhhhhhhlease...... There's 20 guys or more he can't beat.
And
Charlie Williams...I'd never play pool again if he's picked. He's a complete disgrace to pool... With what he's done to how many women players, and the last time he had a chance to represent America overseas he chose to represent Korea.

Enough of these people living in America full time, and representing every other country. I feel like Mika and DAZ should not be allowed to represent Europe. As well as Thorsten.
Allison in the women's, Karen, Kelly, they all want to come live over here then you should be representing America. Especially when you become a citizen like some of them have.

We lost 5/0 and Lou's there.....hmmm :-)

hey - the USA CROWD, won 5-0!!!!
U-Rup NEVER, once, even attempted to SPIT a chant out.
we dominated!
huge....

What this?!? Colin's back on AZB?!? Welcome back, friend!

As well, glad to see that you want the US to do well this year. :thumbup2: Sliding a virtual mug o' suds down the bar your way! (Wish it were a real one; will have to offer you a rain check on that.)

-Sean
Will have a couple of chardonays to you while I watch the replay tonight Sean... appreciate the warm welcome!:) Colin

we lost the break battle - again.
and we dogged approx 6 critical shots.
and Europe was admirably solid; standard team (and got fricken' LUCKY on 2 9's @ break) - while 50% of our team was off-site @ Players' Practice Ballroom....

but above all this - the US crowds were AMAZING!!!!

(i bit a hole in my thumb from whistling so much & we are exhausted, and hoarse)

huge....

I'm sure they will be light hearted and making up plenty tonight... Maybe they all wake up hung over (including the Euro players) and we can get back in this and not afford them the chance to sing and dance and chant.....

I predict singing, dancing and chanting but I am hoping it doesn't go that way....

I only have a few minutes because I have to get ready for the HOF dinner but I will pass on a couple of quick observations:

IMO there is a huge difference in how the Euros are playing as a team and how the Americans are (not).

The Euros are focused in on the table and their match at hand. A couple of the Americans seem more preoccupied with what's going on in the friends and family seating area, frequently looking around instead of remaining focused on the table.

Earl is already chirping and has already mutter words about how they're easy when their hanging in the hole instead of needing to shoot jacked up.

Buddy is on a scooter. For a while he was back in the camera area and then spent some time on the aisle near the rack area and then I didn't see him.

The AZ crowd was in the front row behind from where the players were breaking.

Most of the usual suspects are here.

Could be a short week the way things are going...

Good to hear from you, Lou. I observed the same things from here. There seems to be no team unison on Team USA, quite the opposite of Team Europe. I didn't see Earl and Shane giving support to their teammates when they were competing, like I did each member of Team Europe after each and every game, win or lose.

Team Europe seems more composed and moves like a well-oiled machine. Team USA, as you said, seems to be interested in their friends and family members in the audience.

I also have a question. Is Mark Griffin there? Just curious.

JAM his name is Larry Ross, a very good pool man, loves pool and the players and big action!

Larry has a great story about when Parica played Geese, Larry talked very good about Geese as a pool player.

Larry tells the story about Geese and Parica playing for big money at Bill and billies in Glen Burnie, that Geese had hIm stuck , But Larry know they were going to get the money soon as the coke was all gone.

Iam pretty sure Larry said that Geese was the toughest 1 pocket player that Parica had played up until that time!

Larry goes on to tell how Parica beat everybody he played up until he meet Geese, Parica did win, but it wasnt anything like Larry expected!

Yeah, that is him. Larry Ross. Thanks. My memory is fading.

Interesting story about Geese and Parica, and that speaks volumes about Geese's one-hole game. Some folks did not know Geese was schizophrenic and self-medicated, and he did suffer from substance abuse. He was beaten up pretty badly down South when he was on the road, and his brother had to go down and bring him back home to Maryland. He was never the same after that, underwent shock treatments, and they labeled him "schozophrenic" thereafter. He had a soft heart, but when it came to gambling, if he wasn't winning, well, you didn't want to be around him. But I know you already know that. ;)

Thanks for sharing the story. Is Earl traveling with Larry Ross now? I wonder.

It's all about who's hitting balls every single day, I guess. On the team, though, these guys need to work together every single day, from morning to sunset. That would help, I think.

Hey, tell Mr. Dennis that I got his phone call and will call him later this week. My hours are strange right now, and when I can talk on the phone, I'm sure he's sleeping. :grin-square:

I just don't want him to think I forgot him.

One more thing, Lou, can you please post some happenings on site? We're not getting much by way of what's going on, which is a shame. Usually, somebody on site will write about happenings. I'd love, for example, to know how the Hall of Fame dinner went.

Hope to read you later today. :)

They say a picture can speak a thousand words. Well, JP for Matchroom Sports took some great photos yesterday, and they tell the story of what happened.

Let me start out by saying the hottie of the Mosconi Cup is Karl Boye. What a hunk! :p
