No, but at a trade show in Kansas City he asked me if I wanted to hit a few balls with that famous Q. He started to pull it out of the case & his wife said "Willie you have to go up & take a nap". "I'm sorry Jerry, but you know the wife is always right". I was so close !!!!!...JER

I don't know about the run but when I knew him he used a 57 1/2 long,
12 1/2 mm, 19 1/2 ounce cue.

Are you kidding?? I would be like "You can wait a little longer can't you?" LOLz

I read somewhere that it was a rambow butt with a special shaft made by harvey martin.

In his first book 'Willie Mosconi on Pocket Billiards', published 1948,
his cue is described as 57 inches - 19 1/2 oz - 13mm tip.
This would have been about 5 years before 'the run'.

In 'Winning Pocket Billiards', published 1965 - it is described
as 57 in - 19 1/2 oz - 12 1/2 mm tip
BTW - 12 1/2 mm was the standard size for a Hoppe Pro

Willies cue was a Rambow - as a semi-educated guess,
it almost certainly would have had ivory ferrules, which would
have been capped.

The taper - if standard Rambow, would have been aprox 10 inch
'pro taper' where the diameter increased only very slightly over the
first 10 inches.

Butt dia - probably around 1 1/4 in - note Herman used a reverse taper
on the butt end. The max dia was at the back of the wrap - tapering
down to a slightly smaller value at the end - no bumper.

Misc thoughts

Joint was piloted - brass collar - 5/16 x 14 brass pin -
brasss inserts in shaft

Me, too. He was a Rambow loyalist in love with Martin's cues, so he used the Rambow butt with a Martin shaft. If I recall correctly, the article mentioned him using the Rambow because of a Brunswick sponsorship.

Any confirmation on this - ref to article perhaps?

Rambow retired from Bruns around 1950 or '51(?).
The record run wasn't done 'till 1954.

Harvey was still making cues well into the '80s,
plenty of time for Willie to have gotten one,
long after anyone at Brunswick would have cared.
