Most expensive cue you have ever heard of

can you tell us how many digits there are in the number? :)

I think it's safe to say it had 6 digits....
I think we're a long away from a (7 digit) million dollar cue...

If someone wants to make history, I've got a Ginacue I'll let go for 1,000,000 bucks.

Good thinking!!!! infact I will extend the same offer to anyone out there, so now there are 2 Ginacues offically on the market for $1,000,000 each.

**I will throw in a Rolls Royce as a case for the one i'm selling. :D

Well that narrows it down between $100,000 and well under $1,000,000...

The number is ALOT closer to $100,000 than a million. There have been a few deals around $200,000, but there might have beeen deals in Japan that were never made public-happens in art often. Also in big $$$ watches, I have a friend who bought and sold a $1,800,000 Patek about a year ago, he made $50,000 on the deal. That sale never made the magazines, auction results etc. for lots of reasons(taxes being one of them)

I have done 6 figure cue deals, when, who, weather I bought or sold is a mystery-and shall remain so. Infact there are alot of people who will read this who have done lots of 6 figure cue deals(its not uncommon because big cues are bought and sold often), the transactions are well known(sometimes) but the details often are never known, privacy is important to some more than others. So we will never know the answere to the question.

What do you figure these cues would be worth...

1) Paul Newmans cue in The Hustler

2) Paul Newmans Balabushka ( I know its a Joss) from The Color of Money

Don't have the answers but I do recall Dick Abbot had the Rambow cue
that was presented to Jackie Gleason by Willie Mosconi as a present
from the movie "The Hustler' listed at 40K, and I believe it sold.

Also there was an ebay auction for the cue used in the movie "The
Baron and the Kid" a few years ago right after Johnny passed. The
auction people thought it might bring 6-800., however that cue
went for over 6K.

Of all the big money cues I've seen photos of, the Lambros is still
my favorite.

I'm not into all that scrimshaw work. I love art and go to our local galleries often. To me that kind of work is beautiful but not a very good canvas. Please no one get mad at me for saying that! Again, they are beautiful!!!

well we know of richard Black hitting big #s personally. and http://www.cornerstonecustomcues.com/cues/lrgcues/031k.html
this is a SOLD cue and i have not heard of any# close to it. but there are 3 cues that ernie is making that will be more than this one . and also manzino is doing a commision that is well over 70,000 .these #s have become a more regular. and with these #s comes a whole new world of buyers. on my new cues page.80% are sold (Iwish i could update them) and most are well over 10,000.00. this is in its infancy, and like hemi cars 5 years ago and rare paintings 20 years ago. once the big #s start they take OFF!! and the wise buyers at this stage are the elayted sellers of the next stage!

I am pretty sure I remember seeing the Color Of Money Joss with a COA saying it was the cue used in the movie sell on Ebay for $13,000. I can't remember how long ago but I would guess it was sometime 5-7 years ago.

Hey AZer's,
I've had numerous PM's asking how much the "Last Work" of Gus Szamboti sold for. I hope everyone understands high profile buyers do ask me to keep the price of substantial purchases private. The "Last Work" was never advertised for any price. It was a private transaction. Some well known AZer's have done super large transactions with me that have asked for the same courtesy..
Rest assured it still is the largest cue sale ever done.. Remember this was almost 7 years ago.. Just think what todays price would have been...

Whenever Ernie's "big" silver Ginacue sells, I predict it will be the largest amount ever spent on a cue. I would be willing to bet he has already been offered an obscene amount of money for it and turned it down.

jimmy you are right . I personaly believe that is the cue that started it all! and in my mind i believe it will be the first cue to hit the 1,000,000.00 mark. because it is the cue that started it all. and with all due respect to the makers of the 60s-70s there was nothing even close to it for its time!!!

A cue is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not the price that someone is trying or willing to sell for. The intimidator certainly will never fetch any 150,000.00. Ernies cue had an offer once for 60,000.00 that he declined and later I heard he was offered 75,0000.00. I've sure never heard about any 500,000 though. As far as I know, the highest price ever payed for a new cue was for a Thomas Wayne cue that supposedly sold for 103,000.00.

Dick

I remember that cue. It was called "the celtic prince" it was ebony with over 1500 ivory inlays in it that created celtic knotwork in the shape of points above and below the wrap and through the handle with no beginning or end. The handle area was carved a bit to have a tactile feel.

Awesome cue!

Hey Jimmy,
You are correct... I have been involved at one time trying to get a deal done on it and huge numbers were involved.. Ernie definitely has an attachment to it..
When that cues finally sells, I believe it will be the biggest purchase to date..
Best,
Ken

Some of these cues are pretty ugly, but I can definitely appreciate all the effortand craftmanship involved. its amazing. Im just not a fan of inlays or huge amounts of ivory. Is Tiger Woods a collector or did he just buy that one cue for whatever reason?
