Keep the ideas coming !

Hi Shawn,
We met a few times (and played a couple!). I've got a 4 bedroom, fully furnished house I'm trying to sell in the WV panhandle. It is right on the Woods Resort golf course. I'd be happy to rent it to you month-to-month for cheap (just to cover expenses until it sells). This is easy access to I-81, I-70, I-270. Let me know if you're interested!

I would like to see anyone come to Nashville. We have a nice big room at JOB Billiard Club. it is not as active as it used to be. However, there are tons of players who are yearning for someone to get something going. Maybe someone of your stature could stir up the pot and get players coming in. The place is a gold mine if someone would take the time to make it so. Right now, the owner seems content with doing one big tourney a year (Music City Open 10k added) which was won by SVB in January. Other than this, he lives off of league play, which drive most of the "Players" nuts. Great city. Not too small and no too big. I am biased though, I love this town.

San Antonio is a very inexpensive place to live but being a military based town, there is very little money around which means little to no action. A huge bet is this town is a $200 set.

And no one in this town would have a clue what the term "house pro" means.

Sad, but true.

I believe Cliff Joyner was the house pro at Bogie's in Houston for a while. Fairly good action there and it is a players' room. It might be worth a call.

Shawn, I'd love to see you come to Texas and stir things up a little.

Bogies is definately the hot spot in Houston. Rodney Morris, Raphael Ramirez and Jeremy Jones are in there regularly, unless they are on the road.

I would say Houston #1 and Tulsa #2. great players and plenty of players in each. Houston may be cheaper to live. I was at Bogie's last night and understand you played in the tournament there this past weekend.

I have seen Jeremy and Hillbilly there often, and the Fast Eddie's tour is a potential regular source of "income" for a player of your caliber. If you take a 4 hour drive to Lafayette, LA where I live, about once every three months there is a big bar table tournament that payed out over $31,000 if you add the two calcuttas. I think the winners have walked away with $9,000+. There are usually a few players from Houston who show up.

there are at least 10 rooms in Tampa Bay with 10+ 9footers. No shortage of places to play, as someone else mentioned action is not a problem once your "in".

Median home price is down to 180k from 225k only 3 years ago.

This is true, and when you are not playing pool it's a pretty cool place to live.

I had a small one bedroom apartment. The rent was 550 a month. I believe the Florida market is a buyers market. The cost of home owners insurance is the only thing out of line. I lived there a while and its about the same as Tennessee. IMHO

Theres lots of poolroom. Lots of tournaments. You can get action but not if your a stranger. You have to work your way into that circle.
Actually, a lot of Floridians are transplanting themselves in Georgia due to the rising cost of living there.

Marissa Is Correct and many are also choosing the Carolina's as well. I purchased a fantastic property in Chapel Hill NC ten years ago and it is the best move I have made in a while. No real hurricane issues as I am inland and I'm not in a flood plain so it's all good. Florida is just so flat with no real hardwood trees and no real change of seasons. Throw in some evacuations because of hurricanes and then top it off with homeowners insurance / wind damage insurance BS and I said no thanks. I do like to visit for a week or two every so often, but only in the winter. Too hot / humid for me in the summer!! Just another snow bird that's me..

My vote goes to San Antonio .

Lord no!@ San Antonio is the last place on earth a ppol player needs to be.

The competition is low and the action is even lower.

Don't do it to yourself. SA is a town full of people who can't afford to get out.

Shawn I saw that you were in Houston over the weekend. What did you think? Marge told me that Gabe Owen is going to be moving if he hand't already. Houston sounds like it is turning into a hot spot for professional pool players. Hopefully that continues.

You lucky fool! I LOVE Chapel Hill. My family is transplanted from the area as well. From there up to Norfolk VA. They used to own a big fertilizer business up there until they sold out to Agrium about two years ago.

Mr. Putnam, you sure you want to move South now? :grin-square:

We only had 4 or 5 tornado warnings the other day for my city alone and over 8" of rain. This new hurricane scares me because we've had a few that enter the middle of the Gulf (like they expect) and we've had a few that come straight up our gut in Alabama and have hurricane force winds here and I'm 4 hours North of Pensacola. Looks like its going to be one of those years...... Good thing we just cut the corn that almost burnt up due to the drought!

I just read that the price of homes in Miami has dropped 30%...it's getting closer to being a good deal again, perhaps.

Austin All The Way

Shawn,
Austin Texas has ZERO cue builders within an hour drive and as far as the action goes, its alive and well. You have the Texas Open not to mention the tour and Houston isnt that far of a drive if you wanted to get into all the action one can handle. We have Bastrop Sr. around these parts as far as getting as close to pro as possible from what Ive heard and road players that stop in frequently, often multiple at once. Cost of living isnt that high here and if you buy a house here now, I can assure you winfall profits for you when its time to sell. People from all over the country are flocking to Austin quickly. The highways are full of California license plates. In short, you wont regret moving to Texas, come scoop up this action ASAP!!!!

how about chattanooga tn there are always good players in chattanooga and its close to everything in the south.diamonds is the place to play.

Best pool playing cities in the south ?
Any great pool rooms looking for a house pro ?

Hey Buddy !

There's always room here for you in central Florida !!!

Besides mabe we can finally finish up that 10.00 a rack 9-ball match we started back in 1998 in Savannah Ga. that my ball-less no-heart road partner so rudely interrupted !!!

Given the fact that your pro-status now makes it a wee bit tougher  but I did enjoy playing you and you were quite the gentleman too as I remember !!

Anyways great talking to you again and glad I was able to assist you in partially recovering your stolen cues a little while back !

By the way... if I didn't mention it before, "Congatulations on your Pro-player career and great sponsorship by Tiger !"

Take care, Eddie Wheat
