Here is what happened during our final match in the county match. The bad part is, much of it was caused by my team and the whopping number of bylaws created to try to keep people honest.
Our match begun by us causing an uproar because one of the males on their team was wearing a shirt with the sleeves cut off. This was resolved easily because he was not playing.
Next, we tried to throw a fit because one of their players was using a coin to mark the pocket. After getting all worked up and asking him what he was using, it turned out to be a coin.
At this point, I just went out to my truck and took a nap and told them to call me if I was needed.
I ended up matching up against a 3, I had no problem with that and started playing. Well I (and everybody) noticed my opponent seemed to be communicating with the higher level player. Big deal, the shot and leave still had to be made. Next thing I know, there is a huge disruption caused by refs watching and my team complaining. All this while I am trying to shoot, I have never really been so distracted. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to just stop play until everyone had worked out their issues.
The ruling about the communication: "Don't do that or I'll tell you to stop it again".
I ended up being sharked by my own team and lost. This knocked us out of the tourny. I know it's my fault, but I would expect to get sharked from other sources.
Anyways, this is the kind of crap that happens when you put all these rules in place. It's unfortunate, but it happens. What's more unfortunate is leaving a tournament with a headache. Pool should be fun.
