Well, not bad I guess! Now that just joined APA and Tap league, I need to find a cue that I can use. This is where it gets tricky, last time I shot pool 9ball was the game and 10ball was still unheard of. I remember using the original Predator 314 shaft with my Philippi and Bob Fry cues. The cue has to feel right too and very obsessed about this end. So talking to some of the guys I used to shoot with, they said one of the guys became a cue maker now and do pretty good work. The guy is a pretty good shooter I remember back then and was a woodworker at craft and a wood sculptor. I got a hold of him, we talked over the phone and he was glad to find out that I'm coming back to shoot pool again. He asked me to come over and visit him a couple of months ago and maybe he can help me with the cue I want.
Glad I did it! He took down all the specs I wanted and how I want it to hit. 2 months after (3 days ago), picked up my cue. This guy is like a mad scientist locked in a small room that all he does now is making cues. One thing he regrets is that he is so busy and can't squeeze any time to shoot pool anymore. This guy was a pretty good shooter and I used to stake him on some of his actions back then. His name is Leonard Mallari of Waldorf, Maryland. Once again he does not disappoint me. I like the cue very much and it hits the way I want it to. The feeling is great like it's part of my right arm!
Sneaky Pete that weighs 19.2, 4 points Cocobolo with Ivory joints and butt powered by OB+ Custom Classic shaft with matching Cocobolo joint protectors made on the spot when I picked it up from the same part of Cocobolo wood used for the butt.
One thing he said to me that make sure to do it. He said that top rank Filipino players especially his close friend Efren Reyes told him back then that every time you have a new cue that's never been hit before, always make sure that your first hit trial is you sink the object ball. Well I made sure of that but the cue felt just so right for me that I could not miss for about ten minutes of just banging balls!!!
Hope you guys enjoy my comeback little journey to start it right, thanks for reading....
