I think after DCC in January I will be taking a long break from the Pool world insofar as working at or planning tournaments. I've been active at this for over thirty years and I'm ready for en extended break. Time to let some new young blood take over.

That said what seems like fun for me would be one last road trip across the country. I'd love to get out and enjoy the open road like I used to do in my younger days. I don't plan on running around from poolroom to poolroom looking for games either. I've outgrown that and don't need to gamble to get by anymore.

What I thought might be fun is to meet some of the people who I've been chatting with all these years on AZ, especially those with home pool rooms. That way we can hang out and play some pool while we're at it. I will play ANYONE One Pocket or Banks for dinner at the restaurant of your choice! How's that for a deal?

So if there are any of you interested in hosting Toupee Jay for a day or two, just let me know either here or at jayhelfert@ yahoo.com and I will try to make it out your way. My plan to to co-ordinate visits as I travel first East then back West. A month or two on the road should be good for this old gangster.

I promise to entertain you with some good stories and show you some shots you may not know. All right let's see what happens.

How about extending your trip to places you have never, or rarely, been ?

If scheduled right, here, in Poland, you would see the whole new and positive "pool society arrangements", with a lot of hope for the future...

At my place, if you do not mind a couple of cats (running around effortlessly) and sleeping on the sofabed (it is comfy) for a few days (in a separate room), you would also get some home cooked Polish meals "in the package". That is, if your liver is still working good

Beer cost is on you, however :)

I could think there would be a couple (or more) of other AZers from Europe to accomodate you for a few days as well, just after or before your visit here ...

How about it :welcome: ???

Best Regards from Poland :wave2:

Let me know if you're coming to Rhode Island! I don't play out much anymore but when I do, I play at snookers!

Even if I drill ya in one pocket, I'm still buying;)

I would love to meet you and play some banks or one pocket Jay. I am in denver colorado and have a real nice table. I will play for dinner in game of your choice. Be sure to come through colorado on your trip. Lots of great players and I will make sure you have a great time!!. You can reach me at klunde0@gmail.com. Take care and have a great trip.

Hey Jay, You can get warmed up by starting out in Orange, CA!:grin-square:

After 19 years in a job that had me on the road all the time; I traveled very little when on vacation. I usually just stayed home. So when I retired in June the wife and I planned a road trip. We spent the sole month of September on the road traveling out West from Kansas and visiting relatives. It was great. We drove almost 5000 miles. The only downer was the price of CA gas! Enjoy your trip Jay.

I'm in Maryland for another year, Mr. Wilson and Wilke are right down the road(Wilke, about 5 blocks) also a Poker room about 5 miles away(Hollywood Perryville)along with 3 other large Poker rooms within 30 - 50 mins.

Have a 10' BBC Arcade or Top Hat about 30mins away.

There's a few BB's down the street - since you're getting old ;)

If nothing else, maybe we finally meet up in Vegas for the World Series of Poker - will be there at least first week, possibly all of June
Jason

Hope you have a great trip!

I know there's other AZers from this area, please chime in - maybe we can fatten J up.
I'm in Havre De Grace

Edit - that's Brunswick Balke Collander for all you funny guys - figured I'd clarify before all you drinkers blindsided me. Lol

Jay, if your trip takes you through KC, my Anniversary is always open. And there's plenty of great barbecue to choose from. Sounds like a great idea for a trip. I'm envious.

Good for you Jay

I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip and some good pool games.

My wife and I just finished a 16,370 mile 20 state trip that took us about 3 months. We avoided big cities and had a great time seeing beautiful America. Which for me is mainly near the Rockies.

I don't expect you to show up in my little hick Alaskan town. But, if you do I got a spare bed and a nice old Rebco 9' table. You can teach me how to play One Pocket, I catch on fast and can figure out Banks on my own.

Best wishes.

Jay,

Should you like to extend your trip to Europe, as POOLER already proposed, you would be welcome here in Germany, too!

Enjoy your trip!

Gerhard

If you want to cross the pond, I have a seperate bedroom with kingsize bed for you.
Seperate room with a 6-foot blackball table and a gold crown 3 in the basement. On
the 6-foot I'll be happy to take your money playing banks

An excellent restaurant literally 50 feet from my front door. I am in the extreme south of The Netherlands.

Havre De Grace ain't in Maryland, you in PA :)

I'm in Waldorf Maryland.
Don't play 1p or B, only 8B :)
I have a friend with a very nice 9' Diamond with shimmed pockets :)
He plays a little 1p.

If you stop through Baltimore I'd be honored to play you some banks at Top Hat Cue Club for dinner at Remos around the corner.

I am now in Shrewsbury PA, and i just got my table setup Saturday from storage after the move.

I am not a one pocket player, but I can learn.

;)

Thanks guys, you are all great! Europe sounds tempting but this road trip will probably be confined to the lower 48 by car. Maybe I'll save Europe for a second trip in the future.

I've just been informed that I'm the current #1 player in my league so just be warned I can still play bar box Eight Ball, ha ha.

Come to North Carolina Chandleys

Jay,
Come by Chandleys in Statesville, NC on Hwy 115 on half mile from I-40. Let me know and the pool time, food and beverage are on me. I enjoy some one pocket very much and I play pretty good.

You said "lower 48"..... If you decide to include Maine in your East Coast portion, I'd love to meet you.

Please publish your itinerary, I bet you'll have lots of AZBers pop up in your travels.
