my favorite chalk

i have tried everything over the years and I like real old Master's blue, the older the better.

whats your favorite???

Ive still got a bunch of the old pre flag masters thats great.I think the old stuff still has lead in it which makes it stick better. The new masters is no comparison.Blue Diamond seems about the best of the new stuff.

I am keen on Blue Diamond chalk I heard it does wonders on the ferrulls(sp) of certain cues.

For real never used the stuff but I do have that older balabushka chalk and it is messy as hell, but works great. I personally like the master green,

reason: I have found that on a harder layered tip the green seems to hold longer, on the softer tips the blue master works better. Anyone else notice this? maybe I am retarded......

Masters Tan.... refuse to use anything else. Never liked the Blue Diamond either. I don't get what all the hype is about it. Over priced and just not as good in my opinion.

But, to each their own.

I've seen that stuff! My dad is a big rolling rock drinker and he got a box one time from some liquer store/distributor. He liked it too. Don't know if he still has any though. He pretty much follows everything I do when it comes to pool. Shoots with the same style cues, same cases, had me buy his table and felt... that kind of thing.

The only thing he hasn't followed me on yet is the skill level!!! :)

He's getting close though!

Can someone with 'pre-flag' masters chalk order one of these:

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.htm...110944&ci_sku=B000FSOYSQ&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001

Test both the new and old masters to see if there is lead. Could put an end to this whole speculation of lead in the chalk.

I'd do it, but I don't have any pre-flag.

I'll send the first willing person to PM me a $20 bill for expenses. All I want is photos posted after the trial.

Thanks.

Dave

No one on here's mentioned it I don't think. It's Incredibly Popular amongst the 3cushion and Billiard players all over the world. I've recently been gifted a batch of 3 cubes by a good friend of mine who's a very accomplished 3c player in the northeast. I've used it exclusively since and i love it... Holds great. Feels excellent and is the absolute nuts!!!

tan sticks real good, perhaps just a bit betterthan blue, but I like the "Blue Hand Syndrome".

That expensive stuff is sticky on my wet hands so I dont use it.

I spoke to the guy at the BCA trade show this year at the Tweeten booth and he said red has the most pigment in it, Something I noticed. He said the blue and tan have about the same amount of pigment and very similar formula-somethingelse I noticed. The Gray , he said has the least pigment in it and was kind enough to give me a piece, he was right about that-it dosent stick very well to anything. Next timeI talk to him(I was in a hurry) I'm goingto ask more about "Pigments".

One other thing to note they still print no-flagchalk for markets that dont want American flags, its a very small % of production. But just cause it dosent have a flag dosent mean its not old. The PreflagI have is old, I know to be a fact because the glue that holds the wrapper on is degenerated and chrystalized and the paper falls off after a few hours of use. So not all pre flag is old. FWIW.

Where can I get some of that wonderful "3 cubes" chalk?

I like green or blue masters pre-flag or not. The older green is darker than the newer version. When we owned the pool room I received a flier that said lead can no longer be used in chalk for health reasons. Right after that masters green was a lighter color. Who knows if it had lead but I tend to think it did. I still have some of both.

Also I have no problem using triangle or the old national chalk. Good chalk is just that, it covers and sticks to the tip well. Personally I don't see the big deal, If I can draw the cue ball 20 feet with any of the above chalk, what else do I need? I think people buy into the hype and for 2 bucks a cube I'll pass.

Anytime I miscue I know exactly why I did...and it ain't the chalk or forgetting to chalk. It's something I did wrong or didn't do right in my stroking the QB. Masters blue is as good as any. Now if your talking trick shots like Venom then there might be a very slight difference of the chalk to use for that. Johnnyt

PS:Would like to know what Venon and other trick shot artists use for chalk.

Russian Magic Chalk

I use Russian Magic Chalk. Good for English. Checkout this post

I second that. I prefer Russian Magic Chalk as well. I did my own exhaustive comparison using cubes of various manufaturers/makes/colors (the comparison took *months* to complete, actually), and in the end, I liked Russian Magic Chalk the best.

(I'm pretty well stocked for the moment though, billiardshot.)

The Chalk isn't available publicly. It isn't produced in mass and I believe the company is owned Privately. PM me your info and I'll see If i can get you in touch with the main man who sells the stuff.
