My First Package

This is small potatoes for some of you guys, but Friday, I had my first 2-pack ever!

Granted, it was playing the (9b) ghost (and he still destroyed me 4-9), but I managed to break'n'run two consecutive racks, without taking ball in hand after the break. :D:D:D

Of course (just like a pool player), I'm more annoyed that I jarred a fairly standard 3-ball in the next rack, which opened the rest of the table nicely, but... one step at a time I guess.

The video of my 4 runouts from my set with the ghost can be found here, if you're looking to kill 9 minutes.

This is why I love going to big tournaments. Even though I didn't play non-stop, just being around and witnessing so much great pool rubbed off on me! haha Thank you DCC! ;)

Nice job and congrats! Have fun chasing that one for a while. You thought you had a severe case of the pool bug before.. now it gets worse.

Congrats!!! It's an awesome feeling! The first time I put a pack together it was humbling. To think guys like Orcollo and SVB can put packs together all the time is insane!

<--- Dave, ran a two pack on a 9 footer and a 3 pack on a diamond bar box.

You got some very nice spreads there and you handled them nicely. I'm sure this won't be the last package you put together and equally certain you have a 3-pack or more in your future.

As I watched the next run after the 2-pack, I was thinking 'oh man, here comes the miss on the 3b...' but you end up making it. haha... I was looking to relate to that 3b miss since I do that all the time.

Thanks for sharing the video. Fun to watch. Not small potatoes in my book.

Very nice! I enjoyed the video. I position my hand the same for an open bridge, very comfortable and secure.

Nice job! I ran my first 2 pack last year playing a friend for time. The funny thing is, I wouldn't have even noticed if my friend hadn't mentioned it.

Reading your blog entry there, I suffer from the same problem as you; run out to 3 or 4 balls left on an open table and then miss out of nowhere. I agree with you in that it's totally a focus thing.

I managed to run another 2 pack right around Christmas, about 8 months after I ran my first "package". I hope your second package comes sooner than that for you.

Thanks

For sharing that I enjoyed it. Nice concentration with that person yapping in the background!

Nice job! For some reason when I play the ghost I seem to get a fair amount of bad luck. For instance, I may get a few break and runs and it looks like I am going to with the match and up jumps the Devil and I get a real crappy table spread after the break and just can't get out.
The ghost typically kicks my butt. But, I'm getting better at it and still manage to beat him now and then. But it matches where I play 10 games the score is typically 4-6 in favor of the ghost.

Way to go man! That's a sweet feeling now push for 3!!!!

I actually just ran my first 3 pack on a big table 2 weekends ago! It feels great. I've only felt more satisfied by accomplishment a few times.

All the best!!!!

Nice shooting on the packs. In a couple of weeks I'll bet you put up a 3 or 4 packs for us. It's like 14.1. When you know you can run 2 racks often, the high runs start to come. Johnnyt

Nice shooting. I like your stroke, a smooth one, and you keep your head down after shot.

Good luck with your next packs.

Thank's for the all the encouragement everyone! :) You can be d--- sure I'm aiming for that 3-pack now. Just gotta keep my mental game in that focused, but not over-thinking, state where things just kinda flow. :)

All such "firsts" are memorable thrills. Think of them as signs of even better things to come.

My first "run" as a kid was on a bumper table. A couple months later I ran my first rack of 8-ball on a 9-footer. Just as big a thrill as running eight racks a few years later.

I scored my first 200 game in bowling at the end of my first year and couldn't wait to show my dad the score sheet (this was in the days before electronic scoring or even mechanical pinsetters). Ten years later I set a record with a league season average of 223!

Nice shooting.

Good pace and tempo. Very solid setup and smooth stroking. No jump up, you stay down long after the shot is struck.

A lot of natural shape choices. Did like the 5 to 6? in one rack where rolling cb probably hits 6 or may roll past the shape...nice draw back to rail and spin out for correct side shape.

Thanks for sharing the video....gotta believe higher runnout packages on the way.

ps: background railbird chatter and music is typical...aids concentration training.

Worth repeating...Nice shooting.
