This is my first try at making a leather case it is a 2x4 that is made of 7-8 oz. leather it took about 10 hours of sewing. I have always liked Mr. Bonner's cases so I tried one in that style. Let me know what you think.

Thats a heavy duty looking son of a gun!!

Plain but sharp looking enough imo....esp for attempt number 1.

I gotta say,the last two "first time" cases are amazing to me....truley outside of what I'd imagine my first would look like if I tried it. No Doubt I would generate some hidious looking leather monstrousity.

I'd be proud of this one.Good work!

Sweeeeeet!

I totally dig it man! Very cool! I love that simplicity myself. Never saw a need for anything more than that. Great job!

Congulation on your first case, Great job. Did you Hand sew or Machine?
You might of over pounded your rivets? Your tubes look nice.

"great job"

For your first one ever, I think you did a wonderful job, dude!!!!

I have no idea how even to start to make one, you have it. Now its just gonna be a lil time if your willing to put some in brother!!!

My opinion,
Frankie

I use an awl and 2 needles to sew the case by hand so it took a while to sew but for my first time working with leather I think it turned out pretty good. I dont like the rivets I used I wont use them again when they were set properly they look bad but I have a 1x2 in the works that wont have any rivets or at least not this type of rivet. Thank you all for the kind words I may have a few for sale in a couple of weeks if anyone is interested.

You used an awl? Very professional looking, I bet you have a few blisters.
Seriously, I think you should get a sewing machine and continue with your hobby.

Regular sewing machines will not work on leather this heavy, and the kind that will are pretty expensive AFAIK.

Thanks very much for sharing, I think you did a great job for your first case.

Please post future examples of your work and your works in progress,

Take care

if u have any questions i can answer feel free to give me a call. ill have a trinity knot and cross pic to you tomorrow by the way.

good job

I'm impressed! I've messed around with makeing some simple stuff out of leather and your first attempt is dammed good work. I've not yet learned how to use an awl but I'd like to.

Fantastic first case. If I had any thing to say about it then it would be that I would have either sanded down the flesh side that is exposed or lined it with something to make a neater appearance. I am impressed, nice job!!!

are you sure thats 8 oz leather?? looks hella thick! haha nice job on the stitching. i know the pains in doing that. and the staps might look a bit weak for that size of a case
