Break and run happened tonight! It was awesome. I played it on an 8 ft. in my bar buddy's garage during his birthday party against one of the other guys (well, not really, he didn't get to shoot). He racked them up and I cracked it open sinking a solid and a stripe, from there, I picked the better layout of stripes and played everything almost perfect. I fell out of line once or twice but made smooth recoveries. My worst mistake was my terrible leave on the 8. But it was setup perfect for a good kick. They were both in line so measuring the point on where to hit the bank was easy, though, a ball was in the spot, so I aimed a little to the right of the point and put some top left on it and it glided its way to the 8 and sent it to the corner pocket.

Man... I wish I had caught it on video. Not to my surprise or anyone else's, right after my first very fast and smooth sailing break and run, I broke dry on the next game, scratched 4 times, and lost. Haha. But, it was nice to know what it feels like to not let your opponent even step up to the table except to shake your hand.

Wooo!

Now here's to future frustrations for every time I don't B&R from here on out!:thumbup::thumbup:

Congrats! I havent played much in over a year but can remember when I first won against my dad.. Break and run superb feeling..
especially with your mentor

congratulations!

A very sincere congratulations! The break and runs do come easier now that you know that you can do it.

I wish I remembered my first break and run, forgotten long ago. I do remember a funny one because of the other guy sounding like a spanked four year old.

Two strangers had came into the corner bar near my house after midnight wanting to play. I got up and played the first guy and won but I was just banging balls around and it was sloppy, three or four innings on a bar table. His buddy had his money up on the table and was racking when the first guy stepped into the bathroom to whiz. I realized that I had left the first guy with the mistaken idea he could come in the bar poaching on my preserve so when I kept the table on the break I ran a fast and brutal out on his partner. Tight and hard, mostly stop shots and stepping quickly between them. Bang, bang, bang, the game was over. His partner steps out the bathroom and sees the game is finished in not much more than a minute. "How did it go?"

"I didn't even get a shot!" The distinct whine in the man's voice made it something to remember. His partner tried me a couple more games but I had decided to discourage them from playing there and I tromped on him pretty thoroughly.

Congrats on your first!

It has been so many years since my first that I simply do not remember. OH wait, I think it was Peggy....or Sue. :sorry:

Steve

Since I've started playing seriously in the last 5 months I keep trying to break and run and failed alot of the time and in the past month I've also done it 4 times and it's the best feeling .

Did you do the aiplane on him afterwards? You know, arms out flying around the table making jet noises. Trust me. That is the icing. Congrats.

This is hilarious....

But congrats! Nothing like dicking yourself on the last ball of a rack and recovering!

Man I cant count how many times I have broke and ran down to the 8 or 9 either one and screwed it up lol. I have only managed a handful of B&R's but that will change soon I hope. Maybe because I have been playing WAYYYYYY to much defense:eek::withstupid::banghead::slap::thud: lol we will see what happens

congrats, sir.

i think my first was one year after i started playing, right before we went to a big collegiate tournament. was kind of a sloppy one, and i didnt get another one for another couple of months. but after that, it was smooth sailing.

i've also recorded this sweet B&R couple years back against Ga Young Kim, lucky we caught it on video, hehe

Haha... I wish i thought of that. The last part I remember was getting down for that kick after I calculated my angle, speed, and english. after that I stayed down the whole time watching the events unfold. The cue ball hit the bank, came out, and hit the 8 absolutely perfect. After it sunk I remember jumping up and pumpimg my cue in the air saying, "BREAK AND RUN, BABY!" After everyone found out it was my first I got the handshakes all around. Except for one guy... he didn't seem impressed. Eh, whatever, felt damn good no matter what!

:D:grin::D:grin::grin-square:

Cool man! Nice work. I have yet to run a table. Still working on it. My 14.1 game has helped me tremendously with 8-ball. It almost made me feel like superman beating up on an old lady when I switched back to 8-ball, but my preference is still 14.1 right now. Good luck on the runs!
