Scott... The May 3rd tornado happened in 1999, not 1998.
I was thinking @ you Michael. It's GREAT to see you posting, I assume your family is safe. Yay!
When I awoke this morning and saw they had drastically reduced the # of casualties, that was good news to wake up to. My thoughts and prayers go out to those that were not so fortunate.
What a terrible, horrific disaster! My heart goes out to all who have been affected by these latest monsters.
We live in Kansas City, and we're fortunate to completely miss the current storms, other than hail and loud storms. We will be contributing to the Oklahoma disaster relief funds and encourage AZers to consider as well. There is a deep well of need in Oklahoma.
All affected are in our thoughts and prayers.

I posted this thread in NPR...at least one happy story to come out of this...this hit home as a fellow dog lover on how I would react/feel if this happened to my dogs and I.

Prayers for all.
I know this was a major tornado system and they had less than 15minutes warning, but what about bunkers in the schools. Did they just not have enough time or were they non-sufficient? If not, it should be mandatory for schools in tornado alley.

Everyone affected by this is in my thoughts, it's so horrible how everything can change for some people in an instant.
We got ours last year when it was 5pm with a funnel moving our way and the city's automated phone system calls and says that the schools can no longer be used as public storm shelters. DOH!
Luckily the storm never intensified that night but it put the fear of God in the wife. We are the proud owners of a brand new storm shelter!
I miss my dad working at the National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman. We always had great intel on storms moving in!

Living in Oklahoma definitely teaches you to put your relationship with your stuff in its proper perspective. It also teaches you to carry insurance on everything.
Glad to hear your okay. Good idea on the storm shelter, I saw in the news that they think the death toll is lower partially due to the fact that many residents purchased these after the big one hit them in 1999. Stay safe.
What a picture...this one will stay in the family.This is Dwayne's grandson being pulled out of the rubble by Dwayne's son Dusty (has back to the camera).
I am amazed this young man was alive. The two children next to him were not as fortunate. So very sad!

Yeah Scott your right, the ( PBS ) Public Broadcasting Station I'm watching right now about tornadoes , said Moore ,Okla. got hit by a tornado in 1998,1999, & this year 2013.
I would have to move from there!
