My Impression of Prulhiere Cues

Around two weeks ago, Prulhiere Cues advertised (on this site) four differently styled cues for $170.00 each.
I purchased one of those cues (made from Brazilian Rosewood). Here's my impression of that cue:
* Appearance - It's a plain cue, but looks good. All of the material joints are neat and tight.
* Feel - This is the good part. The cork wrap feels good. Not hard, not soft, just right.
The balance of the cue (at least for 19 oz versions) feels just right. Gripped near the front of the wrap, or at the end of the cue, it feels good.
After making half a dozen shots, I forgot about the cue and concentrated on my stroke. Holding this cue felt natural to the point that I forgot about it.
Yeah, I'd like a cue with 85 pearl inlays, genuine ivory points, and a built-in ballistic guidance computer for guaranteed shot making success. Until such a cue is available for less than 200 bucks, I'll stick with my Prulhiere. It's a winner!

Any chance of a pic or two? They looked nice in his post.

I know he cores his cues, so their hit should be consistent. How is the shaft finish work? How is the taper?

Have you owned other cues? Can you compare/contrast?

Thanks.

* Picture - Sorry, I can't do any better than those shown by Daniel Prulhiere.
* Shaft Finish and Taper. Finish is excellent (I normally use a glove, but did not have the need when using this cue). The Taper is straight (professional?) and did not feel different from other non-European cues.
* I've been shooting pool since 1963 and have owned many different cues. It would be unfair to compare this cue to others because of the cost differential. I will say this: My Prulhiere embodies a combination of cost effectiveness and craftsmanship. It looks as good as it feels.
* The Hit - With this cue, you're in control. Hard or soft, the feedback from the hit is not only consistent, but accurately represents the stroke.

I am glad to hear you are enjoying the cue, but I don't know who Daniel Prulhiere is....LOL. My name is Brian.
thanks for the review...good luck runnin racks with it.

Thanks for the reply!

And sorry for so many questions. I was just excited to hear more.

I have looked at several of the ebay offerings... BRIAN's choice of woods so far has bee dead on for what I would want in a player... Am glad to hear the positive feedback on the hit.....

Looking for my Zebrawood cue any day now.. I'll leave a review as well!

I picked one up on the forums here as well. It is definitely a very pretty cue! The cork grip is just about perfect, and feels great in my hands. The grip does however feel narrower than most other cues I've played with.

I'm not a terribly big fan of how it hits, I've got a Lucasi butt with an OB2 that I think hits better (though, it could be the tip that comes with the Prulhiere).

It is definitely a work of art, and has become the favorite of anyone who comes to play on my table.

Sorry for the Mix-Up, Brian!

Brian, - Please accept my apology for getting your name mixed up.

cues

Hi Brian,I bought 2 of Brian cues and I play Billiards with both of them. They hit great and it is the best buy out there. Keep up the good work and your price will jump way up. Shafts are only 75.00 apiece. The word is getting out there Brian so get ready to get involve with 3C'S Cues. Thanks for being an honest cue builder.

I read iba7467 review of his Prulhiere Cue. I can't disagree with his findings or his (excellent) photographs.
I took another look at my Prulhiere Cue to see if my cue had similiar "issues." The result" Yes and No.
Yes, I was able to spot a small area at one of the joints where glue was forced out. However, in my opinion, this is not a defect or the result of sloppy work. Rather, it is a result of the Mr. Prulhiere's manufacturing process and makes my cue unique. That's something that can't always be said in the day of cookie-cutter sameness.
Here's the thing. All of my previously purchased cues appeared to have been made by a machine. I've owned a Balabushka and it, too, seemed to have come out of a machine - it was that perfect.
My opinion regarding my Prulhiere cue is based on how its looks to me and how it felt when I held it and used it.
Now, I have proof that my Prulhiere is not aesthetically perfect. I'm still a proud owner of a piece of artwork that now has the added attribute of being unique.
I don't work for Prulhiere or know anything about him, but I do have a piece of his soul in my possession. The work he did for me was honest and of good value. I'll be doing business with him, again.

I got one of the walnut burl and it's a beautiful piece of wood.
Feels well balanced.
I can't wait to get to the poolroom to play with it.
At least now I will look good when I miss!
I've never played with a cored cue, so I am interested in that part also.
I'll give a follow up after I use it.
Thanks Brian for the great deal.

Mine should be waiting for me when I get home from work today.. Very anxious to check out the Zebrawood with cork wrap..
