My japanese style home pool room

My prefecture (Niigata) is famous for their Ski resorts and you'll also find amazing beaches, all-in-one haha
I don’t think you guys have the famous Niseko powder, but Niigata does look amazing! If thats an invitation, be careful I’m very liable to take you up on it! Its good to meet pool players on here from Asia, if anyone finds themselves in NorCal, I have an extra room and happy to show you our local mountains, oceans, degenerate pool spots, and homeless encampments.

I got to check out the non-city parts of Japan from the shinkanzen only, sadly.

ive seen many videos of bicycle touring through Japan and while I can't find my time there disappointing by any measure, I sure wished I had the ability to pedal around for a month or so.

I don't know, the roads are very narrow here, shinkansen sounds safer 😅

I thought you guys might enjoy seeing an unusual-looking home pool room. This is my pool room in Japan.
The light wood elements are all Japanese Cypress.
I hope this is the right subforum to post this, some of you might have seen my pictures on other platforms already. Anyway, let me know what you think :)

It took 7 months to receive the 9FT diamond table from the US to Japan. Cloth is Simonis 860HR Powder Blue. Aramith Duramith TV Pro-Cup balls. The light is by a fellow member here.

Super clean layout. Have you considered adding one or two discreetly placed cameras for videotaping/streaming? Domo Arrigato.

T-Marlon: Why no spectator chairs (or you have some and moved to one side for photo reasons)?

Hard to imagine long sessions with friends, relatives, visitors without comfortable and sturdy high-seated pool chairs.

Arnaldo ~ Just curious. Love your house, table & home room. ありがとう。部屋で頑張ってください。私はとても嫉妬しています。

You're right, I need some good chairs. Problem is that in Japan you can only buy the diamond chairs for $2000+ and I'm not sure if I want to spend that kinda money on a chair.. in the meanwhile I'm searching for alternatives.

I looked around for a long time for nice simple tall chairs in a clean style, I don’t like all the big heavy classic poolroom stuff. I ended up with these, which are a surprisingly nice faux leather with cool accent stitching, decently solid & comfy but still lightweight, but I’m sure you can find cooler stuff in your locale.

$2,000 each? Ridiculous prices that you don't need to pay. There are dozens of very sensibly priced, comfortable, well made, sturdy alternatives. Many of them are shipped to you partially unassembled and you simply bolt/screw them together in 30 minutes or less. Be very sure to only buy ones that have a foot rest. Very important, healthful leg/knee resting amenity between turns at the table, for you and your guests/playing buddies.

Also, any local Japanese craftsman somewhat near you would be thrilled to produce four of them from a photo, in woods (or stains) that match the room for that $2,000 amount, and no international shipping cost involved. And he can provide adjustable foot rest bolt hole positions (a real and thoughtful convenience) so your shorter guests can more easily hop onto the high seats. And arm rests are always found on good spectator chairs -- even very reasonably priced ones.

Arnaldo,

I checked again, ¥220.000 ($1900) for 2. Still expensive in my opinion, plus the color doesn't match my table/room.

Keep in mind that the dollar is high vs the yen so it feels more like paying $2200

Everything's more expensive here, guess what I paid for the table..

1.5 million yennies. Sure, it includes shipping and installation and also the cloth and the balls but it feels expensive.

My father is a fantastic carpenter who could make such chairs easily. Unfortunately he lives on the other side of the earth 😅

I'll check if somebody can build some spectator chairs around here, 4 would be nice.

Beautiful home! Love the garden. 😍
Thank you Mr. Helfert!! :)

I was looking at "barstool" type of chairs that might also be a solution, some have foot and arm rests and seem comfy enough, maybe I don't need the "traditional" spectator chairs 😅

Yes! It's on my list, I already have a nice 4k camera from DJI that supports streaming, I just need to find a good spot.

Great looking room.

Just go with simple chairs.

More seriously, the ones I used, but in a lighter wood for your room wouldn't be a bad choice.

Yes, very nice chair. The problem is that there are no such chairs for sale here 😅

I might just buy the diamond chairs when they're available in rosewood color, it's too much hassle (and a waste of time) to spend hours searching for chairs haha

Find some plans you like for the spectator chairs online, and then have a local wood shop build them. That way you can get the stain color spot on to match the table.
