My New Wheat Cue...

the meltdown of the decade that went into the wee hours of this morning! Epic. I mean f'g EPIC meltdown. Can you say:

"delusional"

It was great reading this fine Smorgy Morning! I was thinking "Man, this just can't get any better" (in a train wreck kinda way), but it did!

Hey, a quick question - how does someone apply red to ed to complete the task? I went through a bunch of his posts from many different threads and none allow a rep.

Kudos to the many that brought out the rest of the worst that is Eddie Wheat. I, as with many others, don't wish him harm. Just that he can not harm others in the AZ community, and as far as the word from this community can stretch. I learned a bit through this debacle. A bit about how not to do business in this environment, about cue making, about character, and a lot about a lot of people that frequent this fine establishment.

Cheers to a great day people!

Best,

Matt

it was interesting, i was watching it happen and it didnt end, so we dog piled him and now the healing and peace process can begin.

Bullsh!t. When you get a premade blank, it's already tapered to near final size. You can turn them down a little faster, as they are already round, and only need to have about .6" taken off the blank to be a finished cue. My cue stock comes in square and round. The round stuff is 1.5" diameter, with no taper. That means I have to taper the wood first, which means more passes. That necessarily adds time to production.

Willee, if you're going to quote me, use the whole statement. The guy who got the cue said it was custom made by Eddie from top to bottom. The cue is a blank made by someone else, not Eddie Wheat. That hardly makes it custom "top to bottom". It's a conversion cue.

Cutting off wood in a tapering machine dont make anything a finished cue and my machine will cut square wood as easily as round wood.
Cuting off .050" of wood is no harder than taking off .005" you just set the cutter to cut deeper and run the machine.

Full splice blanks are harder to make but I stand by my statement that it takes as much time, skill, and effort to make a finished cue from a house cue butt as it does any other piece of wood, from that point forward.

However, I agree that EW did not make the full splice blank he started with and the poster did make a statment that might lead others to think he did.

Good catch Shawn.

I guess we make cues differently, Willee. You make a deeper cut, I make the same cut every time. That's how I let my cues age. I take the same amount off the cue every time I make a pass on a cue. Then again, that's also why it takes me too damn long to make a cue!

I don't have nearly the same amount of machinery as you do. I taper my cues on my lathe, the same lathe I use for all my work. Therefore, when I get a cue that is already tapered and near final size, that has removed a lot of time I will need to spend tapering or downsizing the butt. Typical cycle for me is about 6-8 weeks on a sneaky (to make it RIGHT), and about 4-6 months on a custom stick. I could make a cue in 21 days. I just wouldn't want to play with it.

A lot of pre-made blanks come at .900-.950 joint end.
Figure .025 per 6 weeks ( or more ) cuts.
It'd still take months to make.
I let them sit for months before cutting because some of them are 8% mc.

They are a little easier to finish than segmented cues but still a lot of work none the less.
I have a few left and will probably stop making sneakies.
I can taylor the hit of segmented cues better.

thats how Jerry Franklyn made his cues, same on each cut, he let them hang along time between cuts, thats why SW cues take a year(seems that long-i cant remember the exact time) to make. And its widly accepted that Jerry was a champion among his peers in making cues.

I'm calling bullspit. Aside from the fact that the cue really looks like nothing special to me at all. Looks like nothing more that a hue cue/sneaky with some little round inlays and frankly I've seen a lot of house cues with a better looking grain than that.

How can that be a new cue? It's got a huge chip in the butt and that is not a new shaft unless the pic is bad it has blueing and obvious signs of serious use.

How long has Eddie been Banned for? As we finally got to see a Wheat Cue, here the praises for an owner, and Eddie got the AX.

man this thread sure has run away! and since it's already off topic, what did eddie get banned for?
He was arguing with me and then he started with some pretty nasty name calling and false accusations to say the least...lol. After that he stayed on full tilt, I mean full tilt, until the mod's showed up like an hour later.

Really good eye, there Dawg. Didn't catch that myself.
All else aside, there is a thread for thanking Mr Wilson, and we should show some respect to the original poster of this thread and return his thread to him. I'm sure there will be threads to continue the celebration with:D

i lucked into it, then JCIN showed up and it was on, playa was hot wow he was smoking hot!!!(rightfully so), i accidentally opened that thread and read a post that I wont repet here and I was like WTF??? wow i knew it was on, i been here for 9 hours now-big night on AZ wow. The love(REP) is flowing, the birds are singing and the peace is back to AZ, amazing how one bad egg can put the whole joint on tilt, too much negitive chit. it took 4 or 6 of us to finally end the drama, i normally dont get involved, but that was just to strong to ignore.

one other thing, this thread started about 75% of the way on the tilt thread, look at the time stamps-i'm going off memory, but it was too coincindential when it popped up, my radar went off, SOMEONE!!!!! please check the time stamps of the "Tilt" and this one-that will esplaine sum chit.

check the time this thread came up berofe he was done posting, he mellowwed out for a while at the end of the Tilt thread too, he could have went off that one and cracked this one open, he did take breaks on the tilt thread, then went to lower case letters, then went on final tilt, Mr Wilson got up and gassed him.

I noticed the chip, the excessive wear and dirt on the joint and threads inside the shaft, that cue has miles on it, the initials, its a conversion cue with a few practice inlays, blueing on the shaft. and it came up at a suspicious time, there wernt many people here either.

Time for an IP check, if Eddie's IP got locked out, then so would any other user names he may have had. Only time will tell.

I noticed that also....It's probably the owners initials?? maybe..
Maybe the maker.
Not me of course.
Maybe it's Eddie's phantom maker.
Eddie dun't do inlays.

the cue thread was posted about 75% of the wway through the "Tilt" process. he did disappear, then he came back really jacked. Then gone and came back with normal letters by then this was here "thekid" then he went full blast, i was in and out of the tilt and saw it come up, i thought it was dodgy then, he goes bat chit crazy and .....finally someone comes up with a cue pic. when there was no one here, it was around 430am in vegas.
