FYI Scott and Jim, nope didn't bite on it, but was really disgusted with the attempt. Someone did bite and paid for it but it wasnt me.
Example of laying the spread. I will use myself and Blackjack because I know he wont mind.
I decide to go to Florida to play. Blackjack and I decide to make a "Fake" matchup and make sure everyone in the room heres the spot and the monopoly money we are playing for. For example, Dave is gonna spot me the 5 out and the breaks for 1K sets.
I let Blackjack just totally annihilate me. Meanwhile "Johnny Mark" sees this happen and now is interested in playing me after witnessing the spectacle.
Now all of a sudden I am getting a spot from some guy that actually doesn't play as well as me because of my planned deceit, and rob and demoralize him. This is flat out wrong for this great game we play. This is not pool its larceny, and not any different than robbing the 7-11.
I dont have any problems with matching up and gambling that is way different than laying the spread.
If this is the kind of antics that are going to continue in american pool there is no shot to go mainstream PERIOD

I guess I have other values, does that make me a bad person?

Its very risky laying the lemon & brings to mind a lemon player from new orleans Ernie Sellers who got his car burned while laying it down in Houma, LA. Deep Cajun country!
Fixer said:Lol you guys. Regarding the lambs, I get enough action without pretending. I win far more than I loose and my "suckers" know my game.
If I was gambling for a living I might think differently, but I guess I am not cut out for it.
Thanks everyone for some laughs anyway.

Reminds me of a time in my youth that a road player came to Sacramento and nobody knew who he was. He beat half the town playing left handed (including me) and then when he couldn't beat the top players left handed he was suddenly right handed and beat the rest! We all had a good laugh at what FISH we were.
Moral of the story: Never gamble for more than you can afford to lose and if you do lose, chalk it up to the cost of your "education"
That's my opinion

I'd rather drive a porsche for a month than a minivan for 6 monthsVinnie said:I was going off of what was described in post #13. If that is not cheating, then I guess I am just too moral. Isn't the whole spread/lemon thing about setting people up to take their money? Why should that be just some "accepted" part of the game? Hustling goes on every day in life for sure. Does that make it right? I mean, would you rather buy a car from an honest salesman who cares about what you can handle or would you rather buy a car from a salesman who is brilliant at hustling people into a vehicle they cannot afford?

Obviously by your example, you thought you had the upper hand....so you was going to do to this person what they did to you... You got suckered because they played on your greed. you seen this guy get clobbered, and wanted to join in on the fun... otherwise you wouldnt have played.
This to me is obvious, if Im wrong ok, sorry bout your bad luck, but I dont think its nessasary to start a thread about you loosing a bet.
For all I know this guy could have been playing his heart out, and when he got to you, he finaly caught a gear.. Ive had this happen, I played a guy for 6 hours before he finaly started to play, to late for him, but he did get some money back. you cant prove otherwise, so id let it go..

I figure its just 5 bucks, my buddy will beat him and send him packing, but like I said he wasnt feeling well and it ended up bad for the other guy because he finaly caught a gear and took a couple hundred off the guy who made the bets! THEN this guy walks up to me and says he was hustled.. My friend ask for nothing, this fellow brought the game to him, now did he cheat? Ofcourse not, its always the vultures waiting on you to have a bad day then they want bragging rights..
If they loose then you know they were cheated, BS! if you dont want to loose dont play... ... Everytime Im in the box, I play like im playing Efren, (for money anyhow) I dont want a spot, I want to know just how good I am, and I dont care who it is, if I didnt have the money I wouldnt play.. If I do, anyone I dont care who you are you step insdie the box its on... If I loose well I did my best, lesson learned.. I sure as hell dont go around and tell everyone I was cheated? ...
