My Thoughts on Earl and TAR 22

Thank You, Justin

Thanks for the post...I've bought most if not all of the TAR matches and watched many free streams you've made avialible. I had 2 studio tickets to TAR 22 that I had to cancel the day before because of a situation out of my control...you refunded the full 300$ I had payed maybe 2 months before...thank you for that! I have always felt like I've gotten more than my money's worth with Tar.
You not intervening on Earl was the right thing to do.. It would have gone down hill fast.. Much worse outcome, good restraint I new you wanted to but you didn't. Good business decision. You decide to invite Earl it could have went in a couple different direction... But it went the way it did, I think it was worth the risk..Earl's a huge talent, bless you, you gave him every chance. Now shame on Earl. I'm an older person, you guys are some of the better things that ever happen to push pool forward in positive way. Your young current and thoughtful in trying to understand your responiblies to the game as well as your coustmers. But you don't make excuses for some of the element in pool that make it one of the most exciting environment surrounding any sport...Thanks for that.. Keep it up, no worries.

I can't believe all the people that think Joe Rogan was disrespectful to Earl...Joe is a stand up comedian too that's what they do is impersonate people....Have you heard some of the stand up's impersonate other celebrities like Mike Tyson...good thing Mike can take a joke or there would be alot of earless comedians...I found it funny as many others...I didn't see any lines that were crossed & it was all done in fun & jest...If Earl had a problem with that then it's his problem not the rest of the worlds.

Yeah, heaven forbid Earl have to listen to something like.. well.. Earl. That's gotta be something only Stephen Hawking can figure out. :bash:

It's like a sandwich, in a pita, turned into a salad, rolled up in a burrito. Nobody quite knows.

I have a pearl necklace I am not using right now, might you be interested??????

When Raj is "on" his game, he's pretty darn masterful and fun to watch. OD on the other hand, is just a "steady-rollin'-man".

It ought to be a fun match to watch/sweat. I hope for TAR's sake it does well viewer-wise. The future of televised pool depends on matches such as this one. You can't just show the best two or three players in the world everytime you put on a telecast!!!

Maniac

True.

Raj has tremendous fire powers. He had SVB down like 9-3 or something like that at the US Open late in the week. Somehow, Shane came back and won their match.

I had never watched Oscar plays much.

I think Earl partly sees it as everyone laughing at him.

Rightly so because everyone IS laughing at him. I mean sorry but it's funny when someone shows up to play pool with a hockey glove, and some sort of bionic wrap, and ski glasses, and a 70" cue that's taller than he is, and 1972 sized headphones, AND a really bad attitude on top of it.

Do funny crap, get laughed at.

Then dont be upset when he gets angry with you.
You all act like Earl stole hotel room keys and snuck into womens rooms to sexually assault them. Oh I'm sorry when you do that in the pool world, you get to coach your country's team. Slam your cue a few times because you are missing shots you shouldn't be, be prepared to be ostracized.

Golf - when Tiger go off the rails it costs him tens of millions in sponsorships.

Pool - When Earl goes off people go nuts over a couple thou.

I am sure what pisses Earl off is that Tiger loses more than Earl has made in his entire career and still keeps on swinging.

But, that's life. Tiger's daddy put a golf club in his hands when he was four. Had it been a pool cue then Tiger would be where Shane is at now.

No one is twisting Earl's arm and making him be a professional pool player. People walk away from careers all the time and do other things. Some of them with no money to their name. If you hate your career, hate your colleagues, hate your life, then do something else.

We all know the stories about broke ex-champions. Every sport has them. So what? It's sad but the world keeps turning for the losers and the winners. Time does not care if you were the world champion, it does not care if you made millions and squandered them, it does not care if you play for years barely getting by or not.

At the end of the day playing pool and getting paid for it is better than 90% of the world's population has it. Most people in the world have to work REAL HARD to make a living and they would really happy to get $1000 just to show up somewhere.

Most of the world's population doesn't make $1000 in an entire year of work. That's backbreaking hard work every day for 10 hours or more a day under crappy conditions with no running water, no electricity, no hospitals and no Super Walmarts.

So it's really simple. Count your blessings that it's POSSIBLE to get paid for doing something like hitting balls into holes. We totally lose perspective here and Earl is completely off the deep end.

Let's contrast Earl with Jeanette Lee.

Jeanette shows up in China and interacts with the fans pleasantly and jokingly. She networks with everyone who can benefit her business, which is Jeannette Lee, and makes sure that they feel good and have her information. And she has done this since she was 22 years old. She and Ralf Souquet treat their careers like businesses and so they don't have to rely on winning tournaments to live well.

Earl got real lucky that Janet Shimel took a liking to him and decided to sponsor him, convincing Jones Chang, the owner of Cuetec to chip in. Janet spent a decade apologizing for Earl, trying to work around his quirks, and keep him happy.

How did he repay her and Jones? When he was finally dropped a couple years ago he badmouthed them and the product saying that using their cues stunted his career. The same guy who won several World titles using Cuetecs won a few more US Opens, and countless other events.....

So my advice is get the hell out of pool if you hate it so much and you're broke. We fans will always treasure all the great pool playing you showed us, we will laugh at the antics and shake our heads and we will remember the great champion that you are. No need to burden yourself and us with your miserable condition.

Best of luck,

Your fan.

What exactly is Earl supposed to do to make $?

He has no marketable skills outside of pool, right? It's all he has been doing since he was 14.

I hear he likes golf and tennis, but he sure isn't going to make a living playing those sports. Looks like pool is his only option

He could flip burgers or ride on a garbage truck. He wouldn't be the first man his age to do those things.

The garbagemen are true heroes. Where would we be without them? Think about it. What do you REALLY need more in YOUR life, a garbageman or a professional poolplayer?

Maniac (chooses the garbageman EVERY time)
