My twist on flame design

You ain't kidding. 48 individual splices, all overlapping center. One goes off, they're all off. Was actually surprised it worked out. Thanks for the props

Hi Eric:

I can hardly wait for the postman to deliver this cue to me tomorrow. I'll be in touch after it delivers.

Best regards,

Mike

You know how to pick em Mike!!!

Eric told me about this cue in March or April of this year and offered it to me. At that time, it had been in process for 1-2 or more years. I feel fortunate that he agreed to sell it to me. It should deliver in the next 12 hours.

I love the use of the exotics themselves as the points and recuts!! Stunning cue, beautiful scallops...again, distinctively SugarTree!

Thanks for sharing!
Lisa

I received the cue about an hour ago and all I can say is "WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The cue feels great screwed together. I can hardly wait to test hit some balls with it after work. Thanks, Eric

I played this cue this evening with a Sugartree shaft with a plain black collar and did not chalk the original shafts. It plays lights out, like all of Eric's cues. At 19.6 oz. with either shaft and a balance point of about 19 inches, it's no wonder. The cue does not feel like a 19.6 oz. cue, and it's because of the balance. I have owned and played with cues made by the all-time greats over the past 8 years (including Balabushka, Gus, Barry and Showman) and none play better than a Sugartree, including this one. My hats off to Eric once again.

I've decided that I will not be the one to chalk the 2 original shafts and leave that for the next owner. In any event, the shaft with the plain black collar was fitted by Eric specially for this cue and plays like a dream.

Oh...

Oh, Ok...now that is a totally different story then!!! NOICE!!!

I wanted to build a flame cue but do it differently than anybody else. I love the vibrant colors against the black background. Instead of using dyed veneers, I went with woods that have naturally vibrant colors & figures to give the flame look. This turned out to be redheart, narra, & yellowheart. Trying to figure out which color to put where was a bit trickier than I thought it would be, so I mirrored the combinations in a series of overlapping recuts. It's very much like braiding, only with wood. Turned out ok, I think. I used scallops in the same way on the sleeve. To cap it all off, I used water buffalo horn accented with red canvas phenolic. Nice elephent ear wrap, too. Took me way too long on this cue. I worked on it a lil here, a lil there, for quite some time. Glad to finally get it out of the shop LOL

And to top it off, the cue has 24 points and 24 scallops. Talk about a lot of work to put it all together.

That thing is SICK. You're really making some awesome stuff, my man.

Thanks, dude :) Been feeling pretty good lately, healthy, momma's happy, kids are happy & healthy, dog isn't chewing shit up nearly as much, life's pretty level right now so i'm enjoying my time in the shop with a clear mind.

Eric

Love the design, choice of woods and natural phenolics, the overall "woodier" (rustic as well as subtle) look of your cues. Having said that, I have yet to see one in person - know of no one in this country who owns one? Keep up the great work! Cheers!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

you said "not going to chalk the original shafts i'll leave that for the next owner"..... so is this for sale? or soon to be?

Holy sh*t!!

See, it is extremely talented people like Eric that fuel my cue addiction. I swear, I am sending some lucky cue maker my rehab bill!

That is truly an exquisite cue. What an awesome take on a classic design. I really cannot praise this cue enough. I am trying to save the funds for one of Eric's cues. Are there still some third world countries that buy kidneys or lungs? I could go without two of each.

Seriously, I am in awe of your talent Eric. Amazing.
