My dad bought some old cues he wanted me to retip so the grandkids can play on his table, but I had to give him a couple old Sportcraft cues I had already tipped in trade for what I found that he had bought.

They are all in pretty good condition and was wondering if you guys thought they would be good for sneaky conversions.

Damn, shouldve researched first, Manwon is probably about to rip me on the Challenger cues.

I guess Im now just wondering if the others are even worth doing anything with.

No good for conversion unless you like the look of plain maple butts. Those are painted, not spliced. That's not real points. Take a razor blade & scrape on the points. You'll see they quickly disappear. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I have been through it on a not so inexpensive ebay buy.

I don't pay any attention to these models because they're not collectible, but if memory serves, the Challengers have painted on points, but the Tru Balance are full spliced. If that's the case, the Challengers would be great for the grandkids, and you could do basic conversions on the Tru Balance cues if you really wanted to. Just don't put alot into them...

Your memory serves just fine. The Tru Balance are not only true spliced,
but they are still the 'sharp points at the bottom of the maple' version
that many players find highly desirable.

:withstupid: I just noticed two of them are Tru Balance. That is correct that they are spliced, but the challengers are paint.

Thanks for the info guys. I stopped looking up stuff on the challengers when google led me to a post from Manwon stating they were pretty much giant pieces of junk. I might just convert the 21oz tru balance for a break cue.

I have 2 Tru Balance cues. They make fine players. IMO, you'd be wasting a
great player making it into a break cue.
