Tony is finishing this up for me and hopefully ( :dance: ) will be shipping it out soon. I was going to wait till I got it to put some pictures up but I'm so excited I can't contain myself!
I contacted Tony about a year ago about making a cue. I knew I wanted a "plain" cue with macassar ebony forearm and butt with lots of figure. Tony was nice enough that he took pics of all the macassar that he had and let ME choose the piece for my cue. For the handle, originally I was thinking quilted maple or something similar, again, lots of figure. Tony gave me a few ideas and sent me some pictures of stuff he had. I finally decided on the curly koa. We talked about the collars, length, weight ferrules etc got that squared away and the it came to the ringwork. At the time he showed me pics of the first cue with this ringwork (of course it was his ridiculously lucky daughters cue) and I loved it. So once we had the woods chosen and everything else I sent him half the money, he gave me a time frame and it was off to making sawdust.
About half way into the process we ran into a problem, I lost my job. As if losing my job wasn't bad enough, my last day there was the day my wife and I moved into our first house which we purchased 2 months prior and just spent every waking moment in between renovating from floor to ceiling. So here's where we stand: We have my wife's income only, a mortgage, a poor job market and worst of all, I CAN'T AFFORD MY CUE!!!
I contacted Tony and he couldn't have been better about the situation. I told him it would take a while for me to get the rest of the money together and it was no big deal to him. He had the cue assembled and all he needed to do was inlay the ringwork, sand and finish so he put it on the back burner until he heard from me again. I started sending him money and when it was just about paid off he started working on it again.
Throughout the whole process, Tony was quick to respond when I contacted him and was absolutely wonderful to deal with. I don't think either one of us expected this to take a year to get done but its been worth the wait and I'm foaming at the mouth to get this cue. Thank you Tony for everything and best of luck in the future.
