Wow, seller has cancelled the auction. If he hasn't accepted a private bid, I believe he has made a big mistake. Auction was nearly at $3k and he got cold feet. Cue is nice and worth a bit but I don't believe this cue was made by a deceased cue master...other than the forearm.

My sentiments exact.. but seems like other than Caindevore here, many ppl have ideas of it being a Ba or a Sza...

That unknown offer must be one hell of a offer for him to close the auction..

I too can't believe it--amazing!!!

The notched diamond was the key,IMO. Chris and others who felt at first it was a Balabushka, well,it's like poker, you should trust your first instinct. That cue was original, not nock off,and someone was wise to make an offer the seller could not refuse.

'The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the minimum bid or Reserve amount.'

He waits over 6 days before ending the auction because of an error in the minimum bid?! Gimme a break!!

I think that was probally one of the few options he had to choose from on ebay. The seller is above reproach when you see his feedback. He probally went through a hard time answering questions and having to explain each and every step he has taken.Again,I say the notched diamond is the answer(hint)

notched diamond!!

Yes, it sure does....inlays that have been around since the 50's and 60's for Martin guitars. Several cuemakers over the years have used them. Here's a link to where you can still buy them:

http://www.exoticwoods.com/INLAY MATERIALS/mop.html

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it is or isn't a Bushka. I would leave that up to very reputable sources for authentication such as Pete, Bill Schick, or Mark K. But I certainly wouldn't hang my hat on an inlay. The joint and weight bolt didn't look very kosher to me.

Sean

Now the question becomes who bought it and for how much? I bet someone snatched it up...

Wow. I can't believe I just found this thread.

I'd like to see closer photos of the points and the inlays.

I'll take a wild ass guess. It's not a Spain blank.

Fred

Oh my god Fred Where were u?

Anyway i have to agree with Sean on this, the inlays is not representive of the cue being a Bala or a Szam. So far all the Szams and Bala i have seen has had allen type screws not the flat head... and Burton Blanks are dime a plenty many cuemakers on many an occasion has used his blanks such as Dale Patten, Jimmy Ingram, Richard Black, Verl Horn ... Hence the Burton Blank could still mean the cue from one of 10+ cuemakers...

But then who am i to know, there are buyers willing to fork out 3k on this unknown piece...They would have known better...

Some clown.. or should I say model citizen clued him into the money he was about to throw in the toilet. I am sure he pulled it and decided it might be worth authenticating.

Joe (---ps: if you are a cue collector of these older cues and you don't know what it was, find a new hobby.

pss: sorry for the attitude its the corona talking :)
