Need Help on a pretty Schon Ltd.

My friend wants to possibly sell his Schon Ltd cue. The cue was purchased from Lou Butera some 15 years ago. The cue has 5 points, each contains an oval that has a MOP diamond surrounded by 6 ivory shooting stars. The motif is continued on the butt, repeating the 5 ovals and their contained inlays. The shafts are marked Schon as shown in the pics.

I will probably list the stick on eBay, or maybe we will sell it outright on AZ. I don't know much about Schon cues and was wondering if some folks that do know Schons could give me an idea of the value?

Thanks much

Kevin

Just a Guess

I'm guessing from the lack of response that this cue isn't really too collectible or valuable.

I don't know much about that particular cue....but I like it.

Not much help to you or your friend, I know...but I've always liked Schon cues...and this one's pretty cool lookin'!!

Hmmmmmmm. I have no credentials but I would venture to guess it is worth about in the $1000 range. It's a nice design IMO..........

I think the $500 is closer also. Not enough Ivory to be near $1000. Troy(aka Koinkid) is a goood authority on Schon cues!

Thanks. Perhaps it has to be older to be worth much more?

15 years ain't enough?

Pretty cue. Like the look of it, but to my non-schon knowing mind - looks like more than $500 - but best way to check is the BAY.

Pros - nice design, two shafts, some minor celebrity appeal (although not authenticated, just word of mouth).

Cons - older cue, not much ivory, doesn't appear to have spliced points (as some older Schons do).

I'd say between $500-$800 depending on how much somebody wanted it.

Kevin,

I have sources and can get Lou to verify if he actually played with or owned that cue. Let me know if you need help contacting Lou.

Russ......

I have collected Schon cues for years. I would say that cue is worth between 700 to 950. Let me know when he wants to sell it and I will try to work out a fair price with you if interested. Nice classic Schon!!

The picture of the butt of the cue indicates that the rings are lifting through the finish and this will be a negative on the estimated value. This is not uncommon on cues especially older cues. The only way to fix it is to refinish the cue and that's app. $150 to $200 depending on who does the work.

thats one of the prettier schons ive seen. alot of inlay work ivory or not i count 64. i wouldnt sell that cue for 500$. wouldnt go under 750 but would want closer to 1000$ with a refinish

Thanks Everyone

Thanks everyone for the info. I'll pass it on to the owner and see what he wants to do.

Thanks again

$500 is way to low for that cue. It's worth at least $750.

I'd say about $800 if it's in very good condition. Do I see the finish lifting around the metal rings? I like the design/inlays.
