Fred,

I'm pretty sure I have some pics of Steve Smith. They'll be among some pics I'll be sending you. What's your deadline for getting the photos, or do you have a deadline?

No deadline

I don't think Gremlin has any old pictures. He mostly stalks the women players. He usually posts on the various pool forums. U can try him at CCB too.

I am curious what stories you have about Skinner? I have pictures of him by the way. Also Bob Strauss, have you asked him about being included in your book, he is a very private guy.

Skinner was my Onepocket mentor. I loved the old man-- and he could play. Bobby Strauss? We used to play all the time at Congress Bowl. If he doesnt want his picture in the book, that's ok. However I am going to use a story about him playing Peter Rabbit. Now for the big question Mac, could you possibly have a photo of Big Henry Baker and maybe even Sugar Shack Johnny? That to me, would be like hitting the lottery. I just talked to Ronnie Sypher yesterday and he is sending me pics of himself and whatever else he might dig up. The other gem I need badly is the rascal from Atlanta, Ray Maples. If you could provide me with any or all of the above, a pre-pub copy of my book II, The GosPool will be promised to you. White Cannonball Eddie maybe?
I remember those sessions you and I had at the Miscue lounge. You were tough at that Nine-ball.

I have a few more from the same tournament, but I think this is the best one. BE SURE to credit this photo to Mike Haines. He took the shot. I'd appreciate it if you reply or PM that you got the request to credit the photo to Mike. Thanks, Freddy.

MisCue in Pompano, Bob Bilows the 3C players old pool room? I was there in the early 80's...I could tell the room had history to it, too bad it was so far from my home at the time. Do I know the MacGuy?

Freddy

I know somebody has psted a picture of Skinner on this forum once (It could have been Macguy, not sure) ... I believe that Billiards Digest has a picture archive, get with Mike Panazzo - they have some pictures of Harry and most definitely Rags (they had a feauture story on Rags about a year ago on their website) - CLICK HERE - they also have an article on Weenie-Beenie.

Phil Carpentier posts at this site as Mr. Lucky. He is Cisero Murphy's nephew. I am also in touch with Cisero's niece. His family would be the best place to get photos... here s one I have at my website, its not mine, and I don't remember where I got it from and I do not own it.

R.A.Dyer is also another excellent resource, he wrote the book Hustler Days.

Good luck, and let me know if you need anything.

Here's a pic of Lori Shampo. I think it is from the early 80's. It is an 8" x 10", but I had to crop it down to get it to fit here. I can send the full scan to your email.

Why is it so big on here?

Bob Ogburn

Hey Freddy, I saw you had Bob Ogborn (Black Bart) on your list. How good did Bob play in his prime? He is a true character!!!

Bob Ogburn is still a top player!

My good friend, Willie Jopling (who is a very close friend of Bob Ogburn), told me that Ogburn was subject to beat anyone and any time...and showed he still has it, by beating all the top players at one of Mizerak's Senior Tour events, down in FL just a couple of years ago.

Virginia Bob, or Black Bart was a serious obstacle to anybody who came thru So. Fla. Unbeatable on the 6x12 snooker table in Congress Billiards, and could hold his own, (especially with a big bet) with anybody down there playing Nineball.

"Three fingered" Ronnie Sypher. Wow. I haven't heard that name in a million years. I always wondered what happened to him. He was from the Baltimore area right? A good little player who loved to gamble it up.
White Cannonball was Eddie Kleinowski from upstate New York. He would run all around the East Coast mainly, beating almost everyone. He even gambled with Country in NYC at Guys and Dolls on 50th and Broadway.

I'll see what I can dig up for you Freddie.
