I have to get some ideas and inspiration for a cue I'm having done and I've been meaning to do an old school design with plastic rings.

Tried to search them out here but not having good luck.

So, anyone who could point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.

Not too much in the way of palmers. per se, but Paradise, Coster, Balabushka, Szams, and even Abe Rich cues.

And any others you think might help.

the key for me is plastics.

Thanks in advance,

best,
brian kc

Do a Google Image Search on the names you mention in your original message and you will see many examples of the use of plastic rings and tubes on the traditional cues.

Most of Balabushka's cues (there is a few exceptions in a few of the older cues) did not incorporate pearlescent plastic, but rather a metallic acrylic. And I can see why George favored it, it is some really neat looking stuff.

Palmer used both types often.

Abe used mostly the pearly stuff.

Here is you a link to one of the rare occasions I have seen pearl plastic on a Bushka. However, in no way would I know this cue has been authenticated. But he does have another Bushka on their with paperwork, documentation etc... So most likely it is genuine, just does not show any letters etc..., for this particular cue.

update

progress has been made on my new, old-school cue, and it should be done very soon.

some fine pearly stuff has been incorporated and here's the basic buttsleeve layout before glue, inlays and turning.

the forearm is just perfect.

there may be a very interesting inlay... :)

will post finished pics soon.

stay tuned!

best,
brian kc
