Needing 1 ball playing 1 pocket

Here's a shot I came up with the other day playing 1 pocket.

Your pocket is top right, you both need that last ball.

The 2 ball is in the center of the side pocket, about 1" out.

Pot the 2 in the side leaving the CB near his pocket. 2 on spot tough shot for him. Or if you feel real lucky pot 'em both in the side and see if he can make a free-throw, (spot shot), from the kitchen!

Playing for funsies ok... I would never shoot that for the cheese. Too risky of selling out. Unless I was playing Helfert, everyone knows he can't bank

You have to hit this shot really badly to leave any kind of make able shot!

Being primarily a 3C player, I see the angles with extreme English into the rail more readily than most, because it's a common practice in Caroms!

I remember we used to shoot a similar shot but you put the object ball just past the pocket, and you shoot the cue ball into the opposite point of the pocket. It would bounce out at just the right angle to make the ball. There was a certain table where we played where you could make this shot 9 out of 10 times. Many people lost a bet to it.

Chad, I'm NOT contacting the, 'point' of the rail! I'm contacting the rail just before it with extreme 4 O'clock English with the correct stroke & proper speed. If you look at the video, 'frame by frame' this will be clear.

Cool rail first shot... for fun or a proposition shot... I'd never shoot
that shot for the cheese... too much danger of selling out a bank
if the ball comes off the short rail, or scatching in the side.

You came up with that shot?

I did, as far as I know. In the over 55 years in a pool room, I don't remember seeing this EXACT position come up before, with someone playing the same, 'rail-first' shot.

If you have, let us know who dat be?

I have shot it numerous times playing both one pocket and last pocket eight ball. A little risky for one pocket if you're both playing for one ball.

For sure I've played a shot like this or close to it in last pocket quite a bit.

Frank, I have no doubt you may have seen a position like this come up, and made it! But, I'm also sure you know, if the OB is off in any direction by little as 1/8" the entire approach can be different!
