Negative iTrader - Did I Deserve It?

A guy bought a cue from me that was delivered to him on 2/6 and he said the forearm was warped when he received the cue. I had the cue at a cuemakers shop right before I shipped it out to have the finish on the butt buffed out... butt of cue was straight on the lathe. I told the buyer I would refund his money less shipping.

He never sent the cue back, and now on Fed 13th asked for a refund again and I refused since he had the cue for a week. I stated the shaft had a roll, and the butt was dead straight.

He then left me negative iTrader which means way more to me than the cue I sold. I have never had one bad deal on this forum or anywhere else that I can ever remember.

Did I deserve negative iTrader?

I would not give you a negative feedback, just shipped you a cue and forget about it

but some people have different opinions and ways of doing things. I know at least few guys who would go all the way to ruin your reputation and not just simply send cue back

With over 100+ good feedback, chalk it up to experience. Can't please everyone...

Potential buyers will look at your feedback and see, the person who left the negative is fairly new with low feedback.

I would be unhappy about this to say the least and the guy you dealt with, maybe since he has just the one iTrader, maybe he doesn't realize what a big deal it is to leave you a negative especially when you tried to work it out.

Curious that the butt is reported to have a warp that you said wasn't there just prior to shipping it.

I would still want to get it back to examine it and maybe the itrader could be fixed.

It's not easy getting as many positives as you have.

If he was dis-satisfied with the cue, he should have returned it when you told him to, and the transaction "never happened".

I have done several transactions over the years, and not all have gone perfectly (2 cues were totally destroyed in shipping), but the 2 of us who were involved in the deal were able to resolve everything.

I won't say that this is the case here, but some people "find" an imperfection in a cue that they buy, however, they want to keep the cue. They want the seller to "knock-off" a few dollars for the problem to ower the cost of the cue. Sometimes a seller can do that, sometimes it is better to have the cue back, especially in the case like yours where you KNOW the cue was straight, on the lathe.

He should have simply returned the cue and got his money back when you offerred....I don't think a negative iTrader was in order, based on what you have said.

Interesting......Can one change Itrader after the fact? For instance, I leave positive the first go around and later decide to leave negative.

Was a time table agreed upon on a return for a full refund? If so, and a refund was offered within the window and the buyer was longer on a reply, I think you are good on the commitment. If the time line was not agreed upon, the buyer might have a case.

If it were me, I would have just refunded the money to the buyer to keep from getting negative Itrader. That would also have been agreed upon up front before money changed hands.

Sure wish there was a way to exterminate the nits. I don't know if the moderators
could help or not. Your nit has 1 whole I-trader....wow !

Sad situation...sorry man

I had a guy give me negative feedback early on over a miscommunication..he then gave me positive feedback and bought something else...but the problem was AZ won't delete his negative feedback...so good luck getting it removed.

Can't win them all!

I started on this forum with a -1 for what was going to be my very first deal. I said I wanted the cue but then afterward the seller says Money Order only. At the time, he had only 6 positives in like four years. I said nevermind and got a negative from him. I have since done many more deals but that is the way it goes. I never gave him any negative back either. Sometimes people just don't use common sense when dealing with others. I wouldn't sweat it, and for what it's worth, if you ever list a cue that I really want, I won't hesitate to deal with you! Besides, with your average, you'll get past 250 before you get another negative! LOL!

itrader

most of us who have been around awhile know who the good guys are in the industry.

jamie is definitely on that list in my book.

i dont think you deserved negative feedback i believe you did exactly what is expected of you.

guy might have been trying to pull a fast one claiming the cue has a roll so he could get some cash back in the deal.

also who in their right mind would issue a refund without receiving the cue back. especially to an azer with limited transactions.

the fact that he didnt ship the cue back speaks volumes here.

Jamie you and I have done business in the past without issues. I have always known you to be a reliable seller/buyer.

This person is relatively new to the forum (6 mos) judging by your statement of events I wouldn't concern yourself with it. The problem stems much deeper with the new folks that have been coming on board lately. I steer clear of them when it comes to buying/selling.

Sorry to hear about this...you don't deserve it.

I had negetive feedback left 3 years later.

3 years later. Total lie. I just posted in my comment the facts. No one is perfect. Actions speak louder than feedback. I think you will be O.K.
Nick :)

I don't think you deserved it Jamie, you offered to fix the deal. I wouldn't sweat it much though, obviously based on your other feedback you have an excellent reputation.

I always offer money back less shipping on everything I sell. I have done probably over 100 cue deals here and had a couple sent back.

I had a guy get a cue and about a month later wanted to return it. I refused.

IMO, he has 2-3 days to check it out. I guess at a week I would have been on the fense and probably let him return it.

Ebay has gotten alot worse. Some folks I am dealt with on AZ seem a little worse too, lately. I dont know what the deal has been lately but it seems that the fun of buying, trading and selling has gone with it.

I have got my first (2) negative feedback in the last 30 days. I have been on this site for about 6 years and never had any of that either. Heck one of the guys that left me a negative responded to this thread...

So, I dont think its you Jamie, I just think the group has changed at AZ, and its not for better.

Just take the cue back

Its not worth the hassle. If he decides to return it, do so with a third party. He might send a box of rocks!

The only issue you have here Jamie is the misfortune of dealing with an A-hole. Given enough transactions, it is inevitable. If the guy really wanted to return the cue, he would have had it back to you in three days. He was obviously looking for a discount and when you didn't bite, he gave the bad comment. What a loser. .

NOPE! The nit should have returned the cue as soon as you offered to take it back. Fade the negative I trader it's just childish payback from a person you never want to have as a customer again. Your reputation is spotless with folks that already know you. Remember when I sent you money and said hold it till something good comes in after I backed out of the Haley? That was because I trusted you and I am glad I did!
