Thanks for participating everyone, and just so you'll know, this was by no means a vendetta on my part. I was only curious as to the possibilities. I have seen negative reps displayed at other forums but whether it actually helps to identify potential, or chronic troublemakers, may be dubious at best. In addition, making the necessary changes to make it happen might not be worth the time, trouble, or expense.

Having said what I said above, I still find that 75% of the poll participants are in favor of negative reps. Mayhaps a comment from a mod would help.

Funny how so many people say rep is silly, yet some of the most emotionally charged threads are about rep. It's mostly a game from a boxed software program AZ uses. Red rep is a good element for the most part, helps keep people in check and the mod's work a little easier.

Take it FWIW people, and realize it's worth different things to diff people. Live and let live.

I think the rep system has its flaws, but overall I believe it's a good dynamic for this wonderful forum. I hope they reset the points.

OTOH, Itrader points are absolutely meaningful to all that transact here.

KK9 <-- 420 taught me everything I know, blame him :grin-square:

Yes i think they should be displayed. i think they should also be time stamped and comments be alowed to be viewed by others.

the reason i say time stamped, is someone could have a bad start on this site and get some negatives . then over time user makes some good posts and gets some good rep and you can see that the user is becoming a good user. just like the user points on Ebay.

Just my .02

Fore!

Does the PGA have a relationship with AZ?
In the Masters Phil Mickelson got the Green jacket....
and Tiger wore a Red shirt.

kyo, click user CP at the top left of the forum navigation. You'll see your last 5 reps or so. Red ones show the red box. No way to look beyond 5 so if you got one and then 5 more people repped you after, you wouldn't be able to tell.

Thanks.

I thought it'll sting once you logged in or something... J/K...;)

Rep should be limited to December, the Christmas month.....I mean, your only two choices are red and green, and those are Christmas colors....

Oh wait, I forgot.....it's offensive to say Christmas anymore.....guess I got some good old red coming my way soon :D

I got red rep once in NPR.....it pissed me off because I was simply offering a perspective, there was no direct attack on anyone, but the guy later apologized anyway.....I've given it once because someone went way over the top and attacked someone else...oh, and I also gave red once by accident, sorry again Jude....

For the most part, I don't really pay much attention....I do try to delve it out to good posts and I like it when someone likes what I have to say....

Nothing like wakin up to some green :D

I think the whole rep thing is over rated and the forum might be better without them, positive or negative.

I've never issued negative rep but I have received it twice. In both cases I was glad I got the negative rep because it identified the individuals who did it as being a little nuts.

I would never use it but it does serve a purpose.

I agree totally. I posted to a thread that had died down about 4 year ago so I was told. I was new to the forum when I posted, and had no idea. Well for posting my thoughts I was out of line for bringing up a 4 year old thread and received my negative rep mark......and the kicker is I never said one thing negative. Guess I was jay walking in AZ Land and the patrol man had to write me up with a verbal ticket!.....lol
