Hi, do Netflix have different movies etc from country to country.
Can't find in Sweden.
Do anyone have any ideas where to find it.
Would love to see it.
Regards
Chrippa
I wouldn't be surprised if they did. You should just be able to search for "The Hustler" and it would show up if it's available.
I found it on Roku under "critically acclaimed dramas", I think.
I remember watching it on Netflix about a year ago. I don't remember if I paid for it or not.
IMHO the movie is more about alcoholism than pool. But since it revived pool for a while, that's a good thing.
It's on my list of All Time Great Movies. I believe it was Paul Newman's first leading role and he won an Oscar for it.
Not his first lead. He had leads in hits like Somebody up there likes me, Cat on hot tin roof. And no he did not win Oscar for few decades despite being nominated countless timesI believe it was Paul Newman's first leading role and he won an Oscar for it.
He was nominated for an Oscar but didn't win. He won an Oscar for TCOM.

The ending is nonsense. Why does Eddie owe Burt any of his winnings for a game Burt did not stake? If Burt really thought he was owed money, why did he let Eddie go?
Because Burt exploits people and pays goons to help him; even Fats kowtows to Burt. Eddie got under Burt's thumb with the trip to play Findlay, and once you're there you will stay there until he doesn't need you anymore. Even though Eddie played Fats with his own money, from Burt's point-of-view he is still owed money. Eddie does a similar thing in TCOM; when Vince went to the poolroom on his own and made $150, Eddie still demanded his share.
Burt let him go without paying but took pool away from Eddie as a "punishment" of sorts. Pool defines who Eddie Felson is. "It was never about the money." It was about beating the best (Fats) to become the best. Without pool, who is Eddie Felson? No one.
I think the version on Netflix is a pan and scan version, but not 100% sure. If you buy the Dvd it's super wide aspect ratio. Wider than the current 16:9 common today.
