The majority of known authors (Capelle, Byrne etc) pool books cost around 10-15usd. What recommends your book to make someone pay 23,5usd for it? Are you a good known player or did you write any books previously?
No offense meant but just curious.

Maybe it would be good if you would send a free copy to some known and respected AZ members (like Spiderwebbcom or JoeyA) so they can read your book and come back with an honest review.

Otherwise I honestly doubt anyone would just buy your book without any real feedback...

where do you buy capelle or burns books for $10-15???? I've paid closer to $30 for most books I own. Maybe I'm buying them in the wrong places.

I usually buy from Amazon. See below some books:
-Byrne's New standard book of pool and billiards: 13.75usd
-Byrne's Cmplete book of pool shots: 13.75usd
-Byrne's Advanced technique in Pool and Billiards: 8.19usd
-Capelle's A mind for pool: 13.57usd
-Capelle Play your best pool:19.77 usd
-Ray Martin's 99 critical shots in pool: 9.37usd

All these are classic books that served thousands of players...

Mristea,
You make a point of a sort but heres mine. I am not counting on my good name to sell books. I am counting on the content of my advice. Ive spent 4 and 1/2 years working with different things, taking notes on them and incorporating those things in my game. All the while holding down a full time career, running a business on the side and really loving pool and hoping to crack a code that a lot of people search a lifetime for and never succeed in. Well I believe that I have cracked that code for a person who wants to understand shot aiming in a real sense, not one that involves an aiming system akin to cte. Im not saying anything bad about cte except it doesnt flip everyones switch and it doesnt mine from the small amount of exposure Ive had to it.
How many people have you seen get involved in pool, really love it but just dont get it and eventually quit? Ive seen that more than a few times myself and that is one reason pool is what it is today. Players are the centerpiece around which pool is built but in todays society we all have several things we have to do to make ends meet. So we dont have all that time to spend on it like they did in the good old days "figuring it all out." So that is why its for sale and the truth is the material will stand on its own. It doesnt need anyones name on it to be good.
Yes I might be waiting awhile for people to start buying it but thats okay I will be here. I wrote this so people would work on their skills and have a clear path to do it on. On that path I teach you how to tweak everything you do walk up on the shot right and be able to get down in perfect delivery position. If you can do that, thats a whole lot of it right there. If you had a template to base that on "and I provide that" then you become able to know how to line up on balls thick or think and play them with english.

As far as who I am, Im definitely not worrried about that. I play tournaments when I can, I play the best players I have in my area to play, I dont mind traveling to play some events and I am definitely in love with pool. The game, the people and the stories. I love to write pool stories and their are some in the book. As far as I see things, all of what Ive done here is new to a great extent. No one I know of has done this subject the way Ive done it. This book is like a resume for me for when I retire and doing something pool for the rest of my life.

Pool has been written to death and I would have never done something similiar to whats already out there. So come with an open mind and get something you probaby havent read yet.

I wish you well and hope get yourself a book and find whatever it is you seek for your game. I did and Im just trying to pass it along.

Mristea,
Ive thought about what you said. If youve got a little game in you I will put my book up and you back SpiderWebComm or JoeyA and I will play them according to a spot that is commensurate with their skill level vs mine based on the number of years they have been playing vs mine that seems reasonable. JoeyA says is his commentation of the Reyes vs. Daulton one pocket----"Get ahead and stay ahead", well I liked that so much I adopted it and its in the book. I figure Im ahead right now and even if I lose Im still ahead. So just tell em if they are in North Carolina Im game and you have their back on the money and youve got action.

So hows that for reasonable? My book vs. Your money? You brought it to me so to speak, now Ive stated my terms. If I lose Im good Im out a book and you get your reccommendation. If I beat him then well there is your reccomendation right there. Of course you could just buy a book for 23.50 plus shipping but I will play the game if thats what you like.

Don't think you understood what I initially meant - I just wanted a respected member of AZ (Spidey and JoeyA were just the first ones to come in my mind, but I don't know neither one of them personally) to have your book for reading and afterward to come back with a review that I and probably everyone else on AZ would trust to be honest.
I know in the past JoeyA received for example Gene's Perfect Aim DVD and had it reviewed here if I remember correctly.
This is what I suggested that you could do - I don't even know if they would agree doing this, so enough of me talking about them - as I told you I don't know neither one of them personally, it was just a suggestion for you. You can have anybody else review your book - it is a usual habit to do when you launch something that people don't know about and firstly wait for others to offer some feedback...

Robin,
Let's see now. You say that you have a new and novel book about aiming and that you've used my signature quote in your book without even asking me?

I don't know whether to be flattered or to be slightly perturbed. At least I don't remember being asked if it was all right for you to use my signature line.

I'm not sure if that "sucks deep pond scum" or not. (Sorry George Fels: I didn't think you would mind if I "borrowed" your signature phrase). At least when I use George's signature phrase, I give him credit. Oh! That's what you're doing now. :D OK, then I'm fine with you borrowing it.

You might also consider dangling a carrot or two from your book on this forum. (Something useful and unique that can be easily put to good use.) It might arouse potential buyers' interest.

Good selling with your aiming book and if I'm ever in North Carolina, I'll be sure and look you up.

And the digital books are less than that on Amazon. Johnnyt

JoeyA,
Please don't be too perturbed. My little league baseball coach (1963) used to always say "get ahead, stay ahead, play hard." I doubt he takes it personally that you use the quote (I'm assuming you have it copyrighted now; but I'm positive he won't file suit...he's dead now...).

Sure, I get it, but I'm still alive and kickin' really well especially after watching Joe V's last video. :D

----------------------------------------------------------------

JoeyA,
I saw that you tube of the Efren/Daulton match a long time ago and I dont spend a lot to time on here except lately so I didnt know that was your signature quote but man its a great quote. I think that quote says about everything a player should consider especially when playing someone especially when you are playing someone way above your speed.
That why I used it. I meant no harm and I surely will be happy to give you the credit for it when I do the next revision or I will remove it. Either is the right thing to do given I have obviously committed a trespass. I want to extend you to my full apology.
---------------------------------------------

I don't know whether to be flattered or to be slightly perturbed. At least I don't remember being asked if it was all right for you to use my signature line.
-------------------------------------------------Sorry just didnt know.

I'm not sure if that "sucks deep pond scum" or not. (Sorry George Fels: I didn't think you would mind if I "borrowed" your signature phrase). At least when I use George's signature phrase, I give him credit. Oh! That's what you're doing now. OK, then I'm fine with you borrowing it.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Ouch, hey Im a big guy I can take it. Its my fault that I was as equally perturbed by Mristeas comments---which is not without some merit but what I disliked about it was this:

Why should we buy your book? So to prove yourself to us I want you to give it away now that youve done all this work and if you prove worthy maybe we will buy it, we will let JoeyA or Spidersomebody decide if you are worthy of being in the realm of book sellers. Well I dont know you guys and really dont think I want to send a book out to someone I dont know for their blessings but I stand by my work. I believe its good work. I tried to take my time with it, I juggled a lot doing it and finally its done except of course now I found out that is your signature line and I need to give you credit for it for which I had to apologize and I will get around to doing that if that is what you like but yep its going to cost me. So this first bunch will be the only ones without your not getting credit for the quote but its the right thing to do.

Let me know what you would have me do and I will at my expense fix the trespass.

Im real big on respect and dont mind respecting your intellectual property I just didnt know it was yours. Again I apologize but the quote was on a You Tube of a great match and it was a great quote.
--------------------------------------------------------------

You might also consider dangling a carrot or two from your book on this forum. (Something useful and unique that can be easily put to good use.) It might arouse potential buyers' interest.
---------------------------------------------
I think I will but not the instructional stuff perhaps some of the stuff I consider hmmmm mystical writings on the game or a story or maybe an article about alignment. I have a signature piece in the front of the book that I really want everyone who plays the game to read. If its good enough I would really appreciate someone asking me before they publish it in a magazine or otherwise.
---------------------------------------------------

Good selling with your aiming book and if I'm ever in North Carolina, I'll be sure and look you up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I really wish you would I at least owe you dinner. I thought that Mristea had called me to task and that is why I suggested the match book vs his $28.50. I dont fancy myself a gambler I just love pool and I have several jobs besides this one, it takes a great deal of effort to keep a kid in college these days. They dont offer credit at the university and I dont like loans, its a big bite out of my wallet so I have to hustle at everything I do to keep the bill paid up and I do.
-----------------------------------------------

Have words, will travel!
-------------------------------------

The above is great line as well. Mine is :

" Just another lovely day in paradise."

Id consider it an honor if you use it. Let me know what I can do to make things right and I will try to do it. Again my apologies.

Sincerely,

Robin E. Kelly

All is well in AZB World, Robin. No need to apologize. I was just having fun with you. No harm meant, non taken.

Joey I'm telling you this person let it leak that they are from North Carolina .So I'm buying the book , just on the strength .Go play em if you want to. Just remember your old buddy Matt who traveled the south live streaming and watching players from all around. I thought that I was biased about NC being that it's my home state .After about 2 yrs of travel I became convinced. You say a lot when you speak, 336Robin. And I think a person should always have their say about anything they want to. Whenever something is new and untried people have doubts about it. Until it is proven to be good. I am not replying for a debate either. I am just stating the facts like you did. And I like how you landed on your feet! After what was said.

I have been shooting pool a very long time, and I have seen a lot of great players and played several great and pro pool players. I have also watched a lot of great and pro players play their game for thousands of dollars. I have a good number of great and pro players that are my friends. I am saying all of that to say, I know the game of pool and the players. As a matter of fact, one of the players mentioned in this thread is my friend, JoeyA. Respected, and a real good pool player. He knows the game of pool very well.

I do not judge a person in any respect. Nor do I talk down on a person. If I do not have something to say good about a person I won't say anything. I take a person at face value until proved different. I think everyone should be given a chance to prove themselves.... I like this thread, and I am just stating that fact! I think I know the game of pool, but I can still learn something most of the time. Again I liked what you said! Thanks.
Regards,
Lock N Load.
