The sickest? I dont think so, the table is very stylish though very unorthodox. The only thing I wouldnt like is the transparency of the "slate" as it may bother during aiming. On the other hand you dont have to care about cloth getting old. If the table REALLY plays like normal table I would like to shoot on it IMHO.

show me a strong man doing crazy high jump shots with a plastic tip... and the thing not cracking...

show me a draw shot where the cue ball comes back 6 diamonds.

show me a body builder/banger breaking racks on it..

show me glass stronger than slate..

it does look cool....

but what happens when chunks of chalk rub off of a ball?? how does the glass absorb that like cloth...
seems to me you'd have to squeegee the thing after every rack...

I think it is pretty cool, and it would certainly save a room owner a ton on recovering his tables. But I don't no how practical it would be, without cloth I don't know how you would be ables to apply spin to the ball. I also do not know how you would control your speed, on a surface like the pictured. Then I also think the clear surface may be distracting, however, I suppose they could tint the surface a shade of green or any other color.

Thanks for sharing!! Rep to you!!!

eric yow would probably break the glass 'slate' after one of his crazy masse shots.

The information window says:

he most advanced pool table in the world, the G-1 features a glass and resin playing structure and striking modern design.
The patented transparent playing surface replaces the traditional felt but allows the balls to roll at the same speed.
Bumpers, pockets and playing area are built to international standards, so you can play your game the same, with more style.
The minimalist modern frame features integrated ball return allowing pocketed balls to be seen through the transparent top.

It looks cool but not something for the serious players....

BTW, at this thickness I'm sure that this glass is stronger then slate...

so you need their balls.. their cues... their tips....just to play at .. their speed..

just a tad to Apple for my taste......but it looks cool... so some rich bangers will buy it..

Cue tips on their cues don't use chalk

No chalk, no brushing, no vacuuming ....

And the glass also comes in frosted, looks just like ice. Just the table for bars in curling clubs in The Great White North:D :D :D

It sure is a neat novelty, but I can't imagine that table rolling straight or racking well. Can you imagine not having nap to trap the balls into a tight rack? The reality is this isn't a product for the serious player....its for the wealthy to show off to their other weathly friends.

Been waiting...

I remember seeing this in the billiard magazines when they came out with them. I have been waiting to see them at the Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge, but so far they haven't brought one to the show. Looks interesting, and I would like to see if watching the balls go through the ball return system is as good to see as advertised. Might be pretty entertaining.

According to their web site, the glass is covered with a patented film which gives it the same characteristics as cloth. I would like to try playing on one of these.

I think the overhead table light(s) would reflect too much and make it difficult to see clearly. However, if cover in cloth I think it may be a viable alternative to slate.

Real Purdy for high end yuppies.
Plex and glass both scratch and the balls slide not grip.
There's too much play and not enough control. Q is will it play like a real table?

Still, if I could afford a suite like that, I might have a "show off" for my friends but you'd always find me in the basement playing on the green.

There goes that English slang again. "sick" is like "wicked" or "cool" or "hip"...:D

I've learned from being a parent you have to keep up with these things. Our children are 21, 14, 11, 8. There is always something new....

Darn typos...it's my 5th grade education level.

Well if it is made out of g10 it would be considerably harder than slate.

I know its weird to think about it, but glass can be VERY tough.

I like this a lot, if only for the fact that they are taking a non-traditional approach to Pool table design. I'm personally sick of endless lines of identical "furniture" style tables.

Consider for a moment how cool this table would be if you just replaced the glass with a regular slate top and cloth whilst keeping everything else the same. (Even if the coated glass surface is able to simulate the feel of cloth you'd have reflection issues to deal with, not to mention problems with sweaty palms.)

I saw the table in las vegas during the BCA expo in 2007. I was very unimpressed with the table, the bumpers are covered in suede and they are almost rock hard. The balls did not accurately rebound, and it did not roll like cloth at all. The glass surface is probably 2" thick and definitely harder than slate.

Wholesale I believe was either 15k or 30k to boot.

I think it looks really cool, but I am very concerned with the bumpers - they'd need to be covered in real cloth I think, since anything else wouldn't stretch/flex with the rubber quite right.

the pocket backs look like they might reject balls too
