New Reality TV series casting for Pool Players

Too bad I've got a good job. Oh wait, that's a good thing.

If it wasn't for work I'd PM you right now.

Oppurtunity knocks again and I can't answer the door. Damn!!!!!!!!

I dodged a bullet, then found out who he was.....

I have played Jr my two to his one and I still got schooled. Watching him run racks jacked up is very depressing when you think you can play a little. When he jacked up in the middle of the table and speared the ball in and drew the cue about 12 feet for shape I just shook my head and unscrewed.

I miss Jr being around, he was always good to me and I liked hanging out with him. He could flat play but fishing was his real passion, if there was a way to hustle fishing he would have been in heaven.

I hope I get to see him again someday.

Yes, Jr. taught me alot about hustling and gambling high at pool. He was one of the all time greats when it came to maximizing the scores, we won several 10k+ games in Tennessee, Kentucky and the Carolinas.

The first time I met Jr. I played him two handed to his one and spotted him the 5/7 and the break. He had the "bald joint nuts," however, we were playing "Roll out" and I started rolling out to "jump shots" (no jump cue at that time) and he couldn't jump his cue ball one handed.

He tried to "re roll out" but that was next to impossible against my bar table game. I managed to beat him out of 3k and we were supposed to play the next day. My partner and I agreed that was a BAD game and left town. Another top player in Indiana tried to give him that game and lost 12k the next three days. I dodged a bullet, then found out who he was a few days later.

We met again the following week and he wanted to team up and go through the Carolinas....the rest is history, we won about 60k the next couple of months and left nothing but "tombstones" in every town we played in, what an adventure that ended up being.

Jesse Allred, who posts as jesse james on youtube, is easily the best one handed player I'ver ever seen. He's played Mike Massey.

I've seen him do one handed jump shots on a freaking bumper pool table.

I've watched Ronnie Allen play 1 handed jacked up 1P pretty sporty. That was later in his life. From what people tell me he was one of the best at it in his prime.

Bubba Eubanks from Augusta, GA supposedly played that speed 1 handed jacked up. His eye sight has started to go a bit, but even nowadays, if he's got a long straight shot, he'll shoot it one handed.

Jr. Weldon, or "Little Sergio" in their primes. 'Their Game would be the Teacher'

He would have little or no chance playing a serious match with Weldon Rogers or "Little Sergio" one handed. There's a big difference between trick shots and real playing. Many people have the physical talent, but few have the killer instinct needed to actually win against someone like Jr. Weldon, or "Little Sergio" in their primes. 'Their Game would be the Teacher'

Conversation with Stuart Swezey at muproductions

I had an opportunity to have a long, detailed conversation with Mr. Stuart Swezey of muproductions this afternoon. He explained the concept and outline of his project and what he is looking to accomplish with the reality show.

After listening to the description of this program, I am convinced that he has an excellent plan to create an honest portrayal of the characters who make up the aspiring pool player, stakehorse, railbirds, and hangers on in the pool world.

Some of what he is looking for, is the unknown player, the local hustler, the young upstart willing to bet he can make his living playing pool. That person who maybe isn't strictly a road player or tournament regular. The people who's names don't regularly pop up on the AZ radar. They have to have personality, a shtick that makes them stand out in the crowd.

He is also looking for the people who make the bets, set the game, make the spots, and risk the cash. I could probably list a few guys from the White Diamond's Tournament as the type of stakehorses he is looking for, but I won't because that's their call. They know who they are, lol!

Mr. Swezey would like anyone with a video taken by smartphone, camera, youtube, or you can skype him to submit yourself,or people you think fit the description. He has put a great deal of effort towards this concept, and has a passion for pool. His affiliations within the industry are excellent, and has an exceptional management team working with him.

Please submit video or links asap to info@muproductions.com

If anyone has other question please feel free to PM me here at AZ and I'll do my best to answer your questions.

Thanks for looking.

Carl

I think a show about pool done along the same lines as the "street outlaws" TV show on Discovery channel would be interesting and possibly sucessful. It is a bit scripted of course but the cars and the guys involved are a lot like those you'd find matching up on the streets(been there done that).

This guy has actually done shows people have heard of, and can watch on TV this week...
Ice Road Truckers, Criss Angel: Mindfreak...
I think AZ might wanna take him a little more seriously than some of the other pool-reality-show dreamers.

Seems those guys were pool players who hoped they could figure out how to get it on TV.
This is someone who already has that figured out.

I hope someone steers the right people to send him a message.
This might be the best chance pool has ever had to get a pool reality show on cable somewhere.

I agree CreeDo, this might be the perfect timing for a reality type pool themed show. I never thought one would make it until all the cable shows popped up with good audience. i.e. American Hustler following the lives of 4 or 5 different people in their own environments with their own goals and challenges would, I think, be watched. Good luck with this.

You've done GREAT. I have someone in mind that fits the bill from the New Orleans area....

Shtick!!

Carl, is he looking for any Harley riders that are good at drinking beer and eating wings?
BHr, if that is a specialty of yours, I say go for it!!lol! I'd be concerned about the wings smearing on the Harley, and not the Pool Table! :wink:Good Luck!

Carl

Thanks JoeyA, I am just trying to do a small part to help. If you can get this person's video,or phone pics to Stuart he'd be glad to look at it. He sent me a note and said he has received some very good initial responses already. Anyone you think would make a good addition, please submit,or have them submit to him.
Thank You Again,

Carl

Yes CreeDo, he has a very nice record of accomplishments in the Cable TV medium. His access to such channels as Discovery, The History Channel, A&E, and others is a solid background. I am hopeful he can accumulate enough input to pacakage the treatment for presentation in short order. This could get the ball(s) rolling,...literally.

Thanks for responding,

Carl

Put me on there so I can bust all the guys I'm on the road with.....then feed em canned tuna while I eat Ribeye's. check my resume.....been hustlin on the road so long I burnt up cars looking for victims

I respect your experience and opinion, but have you played Jesse Allred?...have you played him one handed? I have, and I'll say...I'd be hard pressed to find anyone on this planet that could do what he does.

From the moment I read about this idea I loved it. One thing about it bugs me though. What if Ted Kyzinski (the Una-bomber), or other anti technology people like him want in but don't have all the modern equipment to sign in? Facebook, youtube, cellphone cameras - jeezus, I guess I missed the boat (and in many ways glad I did). I'm sort of like Kyzinski, but a mild version as I don't go around blowing people's hands off and I'm not a true outdoor survivalist, just a guy who can't afford all the new toys and wants nothing to do with them until they come down in price and are made virtually maintenance free. It's that way with everything now. You need the modern gadgetry to qualify for almost anything. I want to represent the old guy who never reached his peak but always thought he could have been the best even if it was all in his head. I have the personality to pull it off. But they're going to just have to take my word for it, I can't back it up with video, etc. I also don't fly. But I'll be there in time even if I have to hitchhike, which by the way you can still do even if everyone says you can't. It's funny how they say you can't do certain things anymore, yet they never do it themselves. I like the idea of the show whether I'm on it or not, although my presence would certainly make it even better. Good luck with it.
