New techniques for basics

That's awesome. Well, not really. It's lame. I get upset when I'm not shooting well but the worst I'll do is ding my shaft by slapping it on the rail.

I think people who punch walls and doors want to impress the rest of the world with the depth of their fury and maybe are looking for some sympathetic calming noises. They're hoping all the guys will think "man that dude is hardcore badass serious. He feels things so intensely! You don't wanna mess with that bad motherf@cker!" and all the girls go "hey calm down! It's gonna be ok!" followed by a soothing shoulder rub and maybe a sympathy hump later.

But maybe I'm wrong and I'm just being a douche. You seem like a nice guy in your posts but I find that kind of behavior to be just intensely dumb. You aren't gonna impress anyone or even get much sympathy, and it'll send your game to hell even if your fingers are working just fine.

Lol no one to impress. I'm a pretty laid back and humble/quiet guy. I'm no toughy I will tell you that off the back. I just got mad and didn't know how to control it, and just lost it. This is the 1st time I ever got that mad and ever did something that stupid. I was in the comfort of my own home and there is no one I would care for to impress here lol. I don't do things to hurt myself, and believe me, I regret every minute right now for not just going downstairs to hit the sack of laundry lol. Yes, the door won, so +1 for the door, 0 for Chino. I'm going in on Monday to get pins put in. I admit it was spur of the moment and filled with nothing but stupidity, because I can barely write and cannot type for the next 4-6 weeks and will get in my way of school work. Trust me, if I can go back in time and save myself from this silliness, I'd do it. I dont even get that mad in pool to even ding or mistreat any of my equipment. :(

Ive seen very few 4" thick, wooden doors. That is one hell of a door.

I just measured it, it was closer to 3.25 inches, sorry for the bad estimate fellas

I think slapping your cue on the rail of a pool table is lame and intensely dumb. I also think people that do that are just trying to get attention and look tough.

I worked in a pool hall for many years, and I apprenticed with the table mechanic too. So I took a certain amount of ownership and pride in the room's tables. When I would see (or hear) some clown banging his stick on the table, I'd always think "He has no respect for himself, the game, or the equipment."

Wow after reading this post i feel like such an asshole, i have snapped a cue over my back after losing a hill hill match i played so hard in too have my opponet miss the nine send it around table and luck it in, ive not tapped but slammed my shaft into the bed of the table and on the rails so many times i cant count, after this whole thread i realize i need to calm down and as dennis said respect the game my equipment and the pool halls equipment....i wonder what people think of me when they see me do this stuff.

That sucks. I broke my hand about a month ago during a vehicle accident. It was the bone that goes to my index finger, my cast only allows the use of my pinkie finger. Somehow I can still manage to pocket balls, just can't do much with the cue ball, and am still afraid to break.

BTW: Wait AT LEAST two weeks before even trying, it'll smart a bit.

Lol I actually went to the pool hall today and when I got there, two older guys approached me because I got a cast on my hand and they are like, you wanna play for some money we will give you weight lol. I told them no, and and I was shooting a bit better than without the cast  maybe because I am concentrating more, than after breaking about 5-6 racks and my hand started to tingle a bit so I just packed my stuff up. I was average running about 3-4 balls, but more consistent than usual. Those two older gentlemens laughed and came over and told me, "Leaving so early? Luckily we didn't make a bet." and started laughing. They were just old time ball bangers and I guess they thought they could take advantage of me because I have a damn splint on my shooting hand. I'm not confident at all in my game, so I never gamble.

P.S. I am putting a pin in on monday or tuesday.

I hit a door a month ago. Not proud of it.

Had nothing to do with pool or family as it were and I won't get into it..but I was some kinda F'n HOT. I can fade just about anything and my temper,if it exists, rarely (never)takes control of my actions.

BUT at that one moment I crushed it.Right in the middle.Hard.

Now,I get to look at the dent.divit.hole every morning ....its a nice reminder of my momentary visit into lunitic land. (gotta get that fixed or hang a mirror or sumtin).

My hand hurt like a mfer for days and I had to bandage two knuckles and one big ass gouge of flesh in my middle finger after that....agian not proud.

chin0...I too fought the door and the door won.

you're no tough guy? i know a door that says different

When life hands you a lemon!

A good time to work on a left hand stroke. I was surprised when I went to left handed shots due to a small physical problem. Only those that were lined up easier than right handed shots.

I find my left handed stroke to be much more stable and smooth than my right handed. I seem to be much more accurate also. I am naturally right handed pool shooter with strangely a dominant left eye. At least it was before my retina detached and I went blind. Now awaiting another surgery to fix it. But Really shooting left handed has given me another weapon and a new sense of confidence. Try it Ya might be surprised. It did feel strange at first but with use that goes away.

Good luck with the studies and your hand.

With the splint on, it was hard to bridge with it, so I might try one hand left handed shooting lol

Opposite eye dominance is not "strange" at all

nor_daens:

Actually, opposite eye dominance is not as "strange" as you may think. Many, many right-handers are left-eye dominant -- some don't even know it! Good examples of professional players who are left-eye dominant are:

...and there are many, many others! Among right-handers, true right-eye-dominant/rifle-sighting players aren't as common as one may think. Examples of this "rare breed" are:

So don't fret -- among the "opposite eye dominant" players, you're in great company!

Hope this is helpful,

...and my mom wasn't being supportive so I got really pissed and emotional when I was walking out the door and I heard her call me a stupid ass, so I lost it and punched front door...:D

can't argue with Mom...
:p

They make a spring loaded cue just cock it aim it and press the button shaft shoots forward and away goes the cue ball. Michael Givens and I think a Canadian company were working on the paten I have only seen a few.
